ZenGwen
So I've been having some pain in my hip joints when doing heavy lifting and vigorous exercise lately. The internet tells me this is a groin pull, and I should take it easy for a few days. Boooo! That's no fun. But okay, I want to fighting fit again soon, so no lower body stuff for a while. (Which means basically no cardio. Suck.) Anyone have recommendations for some upper body stuff I can concentrate on? Even just bodyweight exercises I can do at home? I don't want to overwork myself right now, but I don't want to get used to sitting on my butt, either. Quote Pain is the feeling of weakness leaving the body. aj_rock
If you're injured, you should really pull back ALL exercise for at least a week. Your body can't properly repair the damage if you're causing fatigue in other areas. You end up pulling nutrients and resources away from the area of concern. Gainsdalf the Whey
I used to get groin pulls all the time in highschool playing football and doing too much weight on squats. They suck. The best stretches I've found is putting your feet shoulder width apart, squat down so that your hands on the floor next to the inside of your feet, and press your knees outward with your elbows. These and butterfly stretches. If it is a groin pull, you'll feel the stretch in those muscles. shinigamiPUNCH
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I went bowling and slipped and fell and pulled a muscle in that general area... yeahh... I think you're awfully brave wanting to exercise while having that go on - it's quite painful! I would think resting would be a good idea, trying to think of some kind of exercise that wouldn't in any way impact that area and i can't really. Even doing arm stuff, I tense my abs and I would think that might be painful too. Fast healing. Quote Link to comment
ETFnerd
With a groin pull I usually follow up with some sort of of obscene gesture... ...pullups are my go-to upper body exercise. Guest Carjack
Eat tons of protein/supplements/roids to speed up recovery and do military presses frequently. If it's a really minor pull, maybe one hand dumbbell clean & press. Those are always awesome. Quote Link to comment
ZenGwen
Sigh. Been resting for a couple days... it has sucked! Feels better though. I'm going to get back into the gym tomorrow morning, but will stop again if I'm feeling any twinges. Wnat to lift heavy things! Quote Pain is the feeling of weakness leaving the body.
