Hello,

My name is Perry, and I'm currently 80ish lbs over my goal weight (initially). I'm 246.4 lbs as of Sunday, with an initial goal weight of 170. I've dropped from an all-time high of 270+ using IF (21/3 with a single 'cheat' meal on the weekends) and bodyweight exercises (currently working through You are Your Own Gym). I used to race road bikes, but I think that I'm done with competition and a cardio-only approach to training for the foreseeable future. Now I'm more interested in seeing just how strong I can get using nothing but my own body, and just how lean I can get by tweaking my dietary habits.

From looking through the forums I see that veggie-types aren't looked upon particularly well, but here goes: I'm 98% vegan. While I don't cook with eggs or dairy, occasionally some small amount of will slip through if someone else cooks, and I don't worry about miniscule quantities. I no longer eat bread, and am working on progressing to a more raw diet. I don't eat meat for ethical/religious reasons, and since giving up dairy my exercise-induced asthma has cleared up nicely.

And that's me.

I look forward to conversing with you all in the future.

Regards,

Perry

Welcome Perry. good luck with your weightloss, and congratulations on progress so far. I don't know much about vegan & vegitarian diets, just be sure you get all the nutriants you require, though I'm sure you're already on top of that!

Lachy,

Thanks for the welcome. Right now I'm working on upping my protein while dropping as many grains as possible. Let me tell you about beans and tofu and tempeh and nutritional yeast and pea protein isolate. If I can get the damned diet fine tuned, I'll be set. Keeping the macro's in line is turning out to be much harder than the micro's, oddly enough.

In any case, thanks again for the welcome! Now, looking in the forums I notice that bodyweight work is strung out across several forums. Which would be the best bet for posting?

Regards,

Perry

Welcome to NF, Perry!

If you are interested in strength and bodyweight exercises, I'd suggest looking into Convict Conditioning. There are a few of us who just started the steps - the workout portion of the book is said to really work and be quite excellent overall. It's all about progressing from easy beginning exercises to much more advanced, awesome ones. So that might be of interest to you!

Glad you're with us! :)
