unpausing my life!

Recommended Posts

first of all, sorry if this post is messy >_<

im writing this at work on a notepad, then copy pasting it into the forum xD

im ready to continue leveling up my life!

i hit the pause button a while back and unpaused

it a few weeks ago

i stumbled upon this place while i was at work, and so far

the only regret i have is i didnt find this awesome place

a few years ago!

im ready to join the academy, but first i want to share a bit

about myself. and of course, i also have a few questions regarding

the academy.

WARNING BIG WALL OF TEXT XD

little bit of my background:

im Guillermo, im 29 years old and im from the Dominican Republic.

ive been practicing sports at school since i have memory (until 2004)

i used to eat a looott and i mean A LOT but i had a very high

physical activity level and although i wasnt skinny, i was never fat.

i guess ive always been something in between. i had lots of energy

and endurance, could run or jump for days, and yes i loved candy (still do >_>)

when i was 15 y/o i started practicing kung fu hung gar style. i wasnt very flexible

when i started, but after a year or so i could grab my own toes and even touch

my knees with my forehead!

i could jump high, i could hold stances for long periods, i could do

a bridge....i used to feel invincible (even though i could NEVER do a proper handstand

for more than a couple of seconds)

after a a while i joined "Escuela Nacional de Arte Dramatico".

we used to incorporate some yoga excercises back in kung fu class

and in acting class. i didnt fully know the benefits of it...i just

thought i was gaining endurance and flexibility and i was happy about it.

i got my degree in acting back in 2007, i also studied music and im currently

finishing a computer programming career at the university.

then i put my life on pause...i dont remember what happened, i got lazy.

i was eating less, but i was working out less. i was pretty much sitting

at home all day (except when i had to go out to class), either studying or gaming

(gamer 4life ftw) or watching tv shows/movies

(and yes i got zelda 1 and 2 on nes both golden cartridges)

i developed some health issues and had high cholesterol. i FULLY stoped

eating junk food and started working out again last year,

by going to the gymand doing some weight lifting.

i researched a lot for a few weeks before starting out

and i found some useful information on aworkoutroutine

(lots of the information there matches the information here)

i developed my own routine for beginners. i was doing a week 1 ABA

week 2 BAB routine

A - squat, bench press, rows

B - deadlift, lat pull downs, overhead shoulder press

after a few months i switched to an intermediate routine.

for about 8 months i noticed a big improvement on my strength

(i was never very strong as a kid, although i was very agile,

self proclaimed master of dodging at DODGEBALL, however i couldnt hit any1

with the ball to save my life, nor i cold lift/carry heavy things. i could

lift the chess pieces very well though :D)

i went down from 175 pounds to 153 and i was waayyy stronger than when i started.

however i felt like i was doing something wrong (probably my diet...it didnt change much)

i still had (and have) that big belly i developed when i put my life on pause

that i want to get rid of.

then my dad got really sick and almost died. i couldnt go to the gym anymore because

i had to take care of him all day..he couldnt be left alone, and my mom had to work.

i tried (again) doing insanity workout, but i was never able to fully complete the 2 months.

after a few weeks my body was soo sore i could barely walk or move then id stop for a week or 2

got lazy and restart a few months later, then same thing would happen again. maybe i was doing

something wrong, or maybe i wasnt physicially prepared to take on Shaun T.

my dad fully recovered, however, my life was still on pause

i became lazy again.

last month i started jogging, then started working out again at the gym

with the same routine i rpeviously mentioned (since it worked out for me).

i found the paleo diet here nerdfitness and i want to give it a try and see

how it works for me. if it works for me i already have the mindset of fully commiting to it.

i was yesterday at the chat and some members gave me some advice.

my current diet ( or attempt to follow is this):

monday wednesday friday

breakfast half a protein shake before weight lifting workout,

and either a fruit (apple, banana) or a honey teaspoon for some carbs and energy.

rest of the shake right after work out plus another source of carb (maybe another banana)

lunch half the rice i used to eat and instead of beans/lentils/peas etc

ill eat okra or broccoli. and replacing the fried chicken with boiled turkey.

adding some veggies too (tbd)

dinner

fish

and for snacks (because i get hungry through the day) im replacing the

doritos, all potato chips and yummy cookies >_< with almonds and hazelnuts

(same thing i used to do last year)

tuesday thursday

i want to compliment with yoga, stretching and relaxing my muscles. however

i havent figured out yet what i should eat those days

saturdays

got krav maga class in the morning. Will probably eat the same thing as monday

sundays

full rest from work out, but not sure what i should eat since id be

burning less calories that day? i think...

if someone could offer some advice on my workout plan and diet id really appreciate it!

im not sure which guild i should join just yet, im leaning towards adventurer

and trying out assassins, druids and monks after at least 6 months using

a beginner workout program. i really value flexibility and agility over pure strength.

i also dont want to get super bulky..i just want to look good and have

more energy through the day.i feel tired all the time..ALL the time X_X

btw i dont do drugs, i dont smoke, i dont drink alcohol, i dont drink coffe, only coca

cola every now and then..(i know I KNOW), and i dont go clubbing.

now, my questions regarding the academy. what exactly do i get for signing up?what kind

of help will i get there? i saw on the academy page that i will have

full access to videos explaining all excercises, diet plans, routines etc etc.

however i stumbled upon the nerdfitness yoga plan, and im not sure if i have to pay

additionally for that plan, or if it comes included with the academy

membership.

i cant sign up for the academy just yet (i have to wait for the bank to give me

my international debit card) and i gotta wait 2 more weeks until i get payed at work.

but i dont want to put my life on pause again for 2 more weeks until i can sign up X_X

i watched the introductory video for the academy, but id like a bit more

in depth explanation and if i have access to work out plans for all the guilds there (aside

from the challenges)

i appreciate it if you took the time to read all this, and sorry for not including

youtube links to awesome cat videos every few paragraphs >_<

thanks in advance.
