Palmsy
Ok guys and girls.I've recently moved 300 miles to start work, I can count on one hand the amount of people i know in the area and well, since dislocating my shoulder in feb 2010 I'm fed up of finding excuses for not getting back into shape. I guess I like to say I was in good shape and form when I was training 4 days a week, learning Jiu Jitsu. I enjoyed the training, the mechanics and most importantly the little community I was apart of. Anyway, the injury scared the crap of me and I withdrew from it all. Ok, I was working full time as well and 100% committed to my job at the time, working 12 hour days and eating anything from the nearest pub or food stop. I even lived with a qualified PT instructor and she couldn't get me to the gym.. I had totally switched off from exercise and was getting fatter and fatter. So, I found nerdfitness around September 2011 and read it and thought, i'll do it one day. My break came when I landed my current job and the big moved happened... It's as if a lightbulb was switched on in my head as I drove down the M6 and all I could and have done since, is think about getting back into shape.Of course, with the festive period etc, I wasn't going to get started straight away and I spent a month picking out the right gym, budgeting my money and planning my meals. I hit the gym for the first time on 3 January and spent a week getting use to the layout and what route I was going to have to take to dodge the posers by the free weights so I could get in on the action. On 12 January 2012 I joined the Dumbbell division and kicked off my training. I've been eating well and the most importantly, eating right for the last 13 days and already feel better, in fact, having had a pizza tonight (I thought about a "treat" night) I am already regretting it and won't be having one again in a long time! I guess my immediate goals are to be able to fit into my current (and only pair) of jeans. I went to buy some over the Christmas break and didn't fit into my size so have refused to buy some until I lose the belly. It's not a massive goal, but it will mean a hell of a lot to me!I'm off to lift heavy things, i'll keep you updated in my blog. Quote Link to comment
