Penguinmom
Hey, newbie NFer here. I'm a BT through Chabad, starting about 10 years ago, currently living in Plano, TX (though I'm originally from the Phoenix, Arizona area). Anyone else Jewish? Observant? Quote Link to comment

fitnessgurl
I eat kosher (although not according to oral Torah), and am learning how to observe the Sabbath although I'm not Jewish. Just an FYI. Any help in Sabbath observance would be greatly appreciated. Penguinmom
What does BT mean? BT = Baal Teshuvah. Literally translated, "Master of Return", but colloquially it means somebody who is Jewish by birth, didn't grow up Torah-observant, but is Torah-observant now (i.e. they "returned" to Judaism). I eat kosher (although not according to oral Torah), and am learning how to observe the Sabbath although I'm not Jewish. Just an FYI. Any help in Sabbath observance would be greatly appreciated. Interesting! How did you come to start? When you say you don't eat kosher according to the oral Torah, do you mean you mix chicken and dairy, or are you referring to something else? Is this in preparation for conversion, or for a different reason? Quote Link to comment

It's not in preparation for conversion; it's because I have come to believe that Christians are doing things wrong. Shen
Me! Born Jewish but raised Secular. Connected with my heritage in college, and am developing my own practice. I keep kosher and light candles on Shabbat; I am looking for a nice shul around here to start doing more. Observing holidays by yourself sucks! 1 Quote My Challenge is Here. Link to comment
SpecialSundae
Jewish atheist here. I'll turn up at synagogue for my mum but otherwise I'm not observant. My mum's an entertaining one.
