CalvinHobbes
I worked at my school's gym for a year--it was actually a lot of fun and I got a lot of help from the personal trainers because they knew who I was (wish I had asked the right questions back then). Would have stayed but I got a better paying job on campus. Quote Link to comment

Tianith
I think it's a great idea! I think that it would be awesome to work in such a motivating environment, and the fact that you get to help people along their path to a fit and healthy life is just an added bonus.Good luck with your application! =) Quote Link to comment
aj_rock
Honestly, I'm working towards a PT cert, and, seeing the vast levels of despairity in the faces of the people who are trainers there...Yeah I think I'd rather go indy/consult :/ Quote Why must I put a name on the foods I choose to eat and how I choose to eat them? Rather than tell people that I eat according to someone else's arbitrary rules, I'd rather just tell them, I eat healthy. And no, my diet does not have a name.My daily battle log! Link to comment
Sloth the Enduring
I used to be a janitor at a gym. The convenience was nice, but working out ended up not being much fun. I had three jobs at the time and I needed some time when I wasn't at work, so I ended up working out somewhere else. A gym is a fun place to work though. Corbab
As long as you're not bummed out being in the same space all day. What are you doing at said gym? I'd kill for the opportunity to wear spandex and old pinneys and get paid for it. I'd kill for the opportunity to wear spandex and old pinneys and get paid for it.Yeah, that's what I'm a little worried about- being at the same space. But, it would just be part time which is better, but the worse, because technically I'm still going to work everyday...Well, whatever. I'll find out if I like it if I get hired. I'm hoping to get a job at the fitness desk, down in the work out area. From what I've seen the other staff do, I would do a bit of folding towels, a bit of helping people with machines and whatnot, and a lot of standing around chit chatting. And the chit chat seems to be encouraged so that people feel welcomed there, so... I can do that. Maggie May
Good luck!I worked as a trainer at a globogym for about a year. Of course it was super convenient to have everything for free, and I didn't have to leave to workout! The only downside is that once I was done working, I wanted to get the heck out. I'd be tired from being on my feet and demo'ing exercises all day. Plus I feel like I could never workout in peace because people were always interrupting me to ask me questions. Don't be me wrong, I LOVED helping people and showing them new stuff away from the machines. But after a while it wore on me. I know you are applying for a different type of job, but I do hope you get it! Just set up your workout schedule ahead of time, because if you're like me, the convenience aspect might wear off! JPanda
I've thought about it doing the same, but I don't think I could deal with being at the same place all day, part of it working for others, then switching gears and just working on myself. Plus, I would need a change of people along with scenery too often. If it works out let us know! Quote My FitocracyMy FacebookMy PSN: Judo_PandaMy SteamID: Astroboi Link to comment
scuddle
I'd love to work at a gym! I applied once in college and didn't get the job (soooo many others applying, who probably had majors related to exercise), but I would consider it again as extra side work, for sure!
