I applied for a job at my gym

Recommended Posts

Good idea? Bad idea?

Pro- I get to work where I workout :)

Con- I have to workout where I work :(

Anyone work at their gym? Has it been a good or bad experience? What do you all think?

Honestly, I'm working towards a PT cert, and, seeing the vast levels of despairity in the faces of the people who are trainers there...

Yeah I think I'd rather go indy/consult :/

Why must I put a name on the foods I choose to eat and how I choose to eat them? Rather than tell people that I eat according to someone else's arbitrary rules, I'd rather just tell them, I eat healthy. And no, my diet does not have a name.My daily battle log!

I used to be a janitor at a gym. The convenience was nice, but working out ended up not being much fun. I had three jobs at the time and I needed some time when I wasn't at work, so I ended up working out somewhere else. A gym is a fun place to work though.

As long as you're not bummed out being in the same space all day.

What are you doing at said gym? I'd kill for the opportunity to wear spandex and old pinneys and get paid for it.

Amongst those less skilled you can see all this energy escaping through contorted faces, gritted teeth and tight shoulders that consume huge

amounts of effort but contribute nothing to achieving the task.

Yeah, that's what I'm a little worried about- being at the same space. But, it would just be part time which is better, but the worse, because technically I'm still going to work everyday...

Well, whatever. I'll find out if I like it if I get hired. I'm hoping to get a job at the fitness desk, down in the work out area. From what I've seen the other staff do, I would do a bit of folding towels, a bit of helping people with machines and whatnot, and a lot of standing around chit chatting. And the chit chat seems to be encouraged so that people feel welcomed there, so... I can do that.

Good luck with the app! Is disccounted membership likely? The only con I can see is that it will be harder to call in sick so that you can work out.... :P

Ha! True enough.

I'd get a free membership! So that's awesome.

Good luck!

I worked as a trainer at a globogym for about a year. Of course it was super convenient to have everything for free, and I didn't have to leave to workout!

The only downside is that once I was done working, I wanted to get the heck out. I'd be tired from being on my feet and demo'ing exercises all day. Plus I feel like I could never workout in peace because people were always interrupting me to ask me questions. Don't be me wrong, I LOVED helping people and showing them new stuff away from the machines. But after a while it wore on me. I know you are applying for a different type of job, but I do hope you get it! Just set up your workout schedule ahead of time, because if you're like me, the convenience aspect might wear off!

Ech, that's some of the stuff I was worried about. Well, we'll see what happens. I have to get the job, first ;)

Ryan, I will definitely keep you all posted.
