Release the Beast

Recommended Posts

So, I'm totally in shock of myself yesterday. Yesterday was our 1 RM Deadlift day at the box and my previous high was 325 lb for 3. So I went into the box, and just felt a bit more quiet than usual. Then out of nowhere I pulled off a 415 lb deadlift. This is the big achievement for me. Oh it kinda sounded scary as there was a lot of tension on my prosthetic arms straps across my shoulders (I've got the marks to prove it), and the cable was grinding a tad, but I did it and was proud.

Afterwards we did Hanging Power Cleans x 10, and (obviously) my form looked way better when my arm stayed in the sleeve. Otherwise I'd get 'long' in the left arm, rip the weight back into line with my right, and 'punch' myself in the jaw on the right side with the bar as my left arm turned into a fulcrum from the weight on my prosthetic. Yea, it's nerdy, but who said lifting had to be all about the heavy? Maybe I can figure this glitch out and get heavier.
