FireFace`s Advetures in picking up things and walking many miles.

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I recently joined up and became a Rebel, and in the first few days I have been nothing but blown away by how this community is put together. I`m FireFace, Aaron IRL, and I`m looking to get into a healthier lifestyle. Eating better, being more active, and losing a good amount of weight. The norm. Going deeper, it is to help stabilize both my mental health and my genetically inherited high BP. I am no stranger to the weight room and healthy activities, but it has been well over a half a decade since I was last in a good, healthy living lifestyle. I joined here because it connected with me the most and I felt that it could lead to meet cool people and be as successful as I can be. I`d like to get to know y`all and hear any words of wisdom you might have for me.

Graciously, FireFace.

Hi!

Another newbie here.  I too deal with inherited hypertension, and I'd like to lose weight, get healthier, build some strength and work on balance and my core.  Unlike you, I'm totally new to weights, but excited to learn more and try something new. No words of wisdom, but wanted to say hello.

It really isn't as terrifying as it may seem at first, when you start weight training. The main three, at least in my experience back in the day, are bench, squat, and dead lift. The videos I've seen offered here are great, but finding some help at a gym would be even better.

And its nice nice to meet you as well! Since we both have hypertension, maybe we can trade ideas on how to handle it? My diet is probably the worst out of the three modules, so that's what I have to work on, especially in regard to my BP.

Hi Fireface,

re hypertension. I was mild hypertensive 140/100 5 ago (and have a family history of HT). Today I am 110-120/70-80, and have been for the last 2 years.

I cut my salt intake dramatically, and was disciplined with my water intake (at least 3l a day) and i think that made a huge difference. I ran about 20km a week, split up into 3-4 sessions as well. I didn't do weights until I had normal BP so i can't speak for the efficacy of that activity for BP control.

Hey @FireFace, welcome to the rebellion.  I'm glad you like it here! :)

Have you found your way around the forums ok?  If you need any help or advice then just give me a shout.  I might not always know the answer, but I've been around here long enough to know who will. ;)
