joeyb
I'll be running my first 5k on Saturday and I want to put together a playlist that is so awesome that...I can't think of any good words to describe it. Anyway, I want an awesome playlist. So, I want you to list your favorite song to run to. I'll be listening to the music for the next few days and putting my favorites into my playlist. I'm not picky with the style and I don't even care if it's in English or not (I have a Mexican rap song in one of my playlists that a friend gave to me). All I care about is that for 3-5 minutes, I'm thinking about the music and not whether or not I'm going to make it through that song.My submission for my own list is Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. Emcognito
Celldweller. For some reason it's great running music. Right tempo, kinda sounds like a video game, slightly mean... I dunno. Good luck in your first 5k! "Nope. That's just my face." Link to comment

Daneb
I have lots of different stuff on my playlist. It ranges from punk rock (Rise Against, Against Me!) to alternative (Muse, Young the Giant, Awolnation), to rap (Kanye West, Jay-Z). As long as you pick songs you like and have a fast beat to keep you pumped, you can use pretty much anything. If I had to suggest one song though, it would be My Body by Young the Giant. It seems fitting to me whenever I want to push myself a little harder. Link to comment

Zorch
I have lots of different stuff on my playlist. It ranges from punk rock (Rise Against, Against Me!) to alternative (Muse, Young the Giant, Awolnation), to rap (Kanye West, Jay-Z). As long as you pick songs you like and have a fast beat to keep you pumped, you can use pretty much anything.Agreed - I think a lot of it comes down to personal taste, it's really just all about finding songs that get YOU in the right state of mind..One other note - the tracks I'd listen to when going for a regular(cruising, semi-relaxing) run are a bit different from what I'd listen to when I'm really trying to push myself. Tempos are about the same, but the latter would be much more aggressive than the former. One of my favorites is "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters. Actually, several of my favorite running tracks are by the Foo Fighters. "Restlessness is discontent - and discontent is the first necessity of progress. Susie_Derkins
Death From Above 1979 is an awesome band! Might be a little fast for your first 5K, though.
