Archer
Exercising by torchlight makes you feel pretty badass......but I really want a climbing rope, and the ones I've seen for sale in exercise catalogs are very expensive. Can anyone recommend a rope from a farm/boat/construction type place that would do the job? Jesse Mattson - Philomath, OR - Rangers Lead The Way!my website my blog Link to comment
leadchipmunk
Awesome home gym!If you can find a surplus or used boating rope that is a good diameter to grip (that's mostly up to you), then it will work fine. Just splice an eye into it and you can hang it up. Knot it up if you want and you are ready to go. I'd go with Manilla or Hemp (rougher but better grip), but cotton or bamboo is available (softer but slicker and hard to find in thick diameters). Personally, I would avoid synthetic ropes, but that is a personal preference that dates back to my knot tying days and is not climbing related.Check the rope for mildew or fraying along it, as that can severely weaken its structure. Also, check out a local marina and ask around the boat shops and local boaters. Archer
Thanks, I didn't think to check Amazon for exercise gear- they have some 1.5" and 2" ropes for a decent price. Jesse Mattson - Philomath, OR - Rangers Lead The Way!my website my blog Link to comment
