Suited hippy
I just got a Samsung Galaxy S3, going to be up to date with phone technology for a whole 2 weeks before the S4 hits stores! But hey, after the announcement I was able to get the S3 for free. The last phone was a Blackberry so I have never used any of these fancy fitness apps. Tell me what are the essentials I should be checking out? Currently lost in Fitness. Link to comment
Katinka
Definitely not essentials, but: - Zombies, Run! If you're into running (create your own play list, narrates a zombie apocalypse story in between tracks, and you can add in zombie chases for sprints)-Pushups (runtastic) - put the screen roughly below your nose, motion sensor counts pushups and records records. There's a training option, too. I'm easily amused.- HIIT interval Training, if you do any sort of HIIT or Tabata workouts - put in work time, rest time, and rounds you want to do, it buzzes to tell you to switch. Link to comment
FalseAesop
I'll second Zombies, Run! Well technically I haven't started playing Zombies, Run! yet, I'm still working my way through the Zombies, Run 5k Trainer, which takes place between mission 1 and 2 of the game and over 8 weeks trains you to run 5k without stopping. If you're new to running it is a good place to start. If you're into counting calories at all I'll suggest LoseIt! (lots of exclamation points in these apps...) I've been using it for about 6-7 months and with its help lost 80 pounds before I found Nerd Fitness and decided to add exercise to my new diet. Based on BMR it'll give you a daily calorie budget to lose 2, 1.5, 1, or .5 pounds a week. A nice searchable database, barcode scanner, recipe creator, friends lists, messenger with your Loseit! friends... it is a very slick app. "By trying to please everyone he had pleased no one, and lost his ass in the bargain." - Aesop 2,500 years ago.Level 4 Half Ogre RangerSTR 6|DEX 4|STA 13|CON 11|WIS 5|CHA 8Zombies, Run! ceethegreat
I use the LoseIt! app. I like the barcode scanner. Not that this is exactly a fitness app, but I can't live without ColorNote because I keep my grocery lists and to do lists, color coded. Cee, Level 2 Wood Elf Adventurer of the Earth KingdomSTR 4.5 . cracked_belle
these are the ones I use:Zombies, Run!MyFitnessPalRunKeeperHITT Interval Training TimerFitocracy there is never a sudden revelation, a complete and tidy explanation for why it happened, or why it ends, or Why or Who you are. you want one and I want one, but there isn't one. it comes in bits and pieces, and you stitch them together wherever they fit, and when you are done you hold yourself up, and still there are holes and you are a rag doll, invented, imperfect. and yet you are all that you have, so you must be Enough. there is no other way. ― Marya Hornbacher, Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia Link to comment

scotticus
I'll throw in another vote for HIIT Interval Training Timer - good stuff. As an aside, probably best to avoid the Gymboss app - when I last used it, it was pretty buggy and more or less sucked. The Devs may have fixed it since then, but I have no intention of giving it another go. Link to comment
