Deadlift progress

Recommended Posts

Well, they ain't big numbers round these parts, but I'm going to post them because they show me I'm making progress. I weigh about 133lbs at the moment.

  • End of February - body couldn't work out how to do a squat. With no weights. For real.
  • Mid-March - body couldn't work out how to do a 48lb deadlift. Had to start them up higher on a platform so I could learn the motion.
  • End of May - 5 x 5 deadlifts @ 134lbs. IRM so far is 156lbs. I know I can do more, 156lbs went up so easily but I messed up my form on my last chance and didn't get 167lbs up. In two weeks I get another shot at 1RMs so that's what I'm shooting for now.

Other improvements I've noticed:

  • January - could only run for 90 seconds at a time. End of May - can run for 30 minutes with one break in the middle. This is with no cardio training, all strength.
  • January - couldn't do a single full push up, could barely make it through 10 knee pushups. End of May - 5 full pushups.

Oh, and I'm about to do a 5k obstacle run called the Warrior Dash over the weekend!

I'm still a rookie, but hey, I'm a rookie who is improving and haivng a great time - which to me is the most important thing :D

BigM and MirGSS, I think I'll take you up on that. I do want to diversify what I'm doing a little to include things like swimming, bushwalking, and cycling, which I guess are more Ranger than Warrior. But free weights are my biggest fitness love and the backbone to everything else I do.

TxAg that makes sense, I wouldn't run one in Australian summer either. Maybe something for Autumn?
