I'm Jen and after reading NF off and on for a while, I finally decided to make a forum account.

 

Random bullet points

 

-Paleo off and on since 2010

-Just ordered my 3rd beef share and getting my first half pig in August (super excited)

-I like to sous vide things, cook, go to the farmer's market

-Lost 150+ lbs in the past and then gained some back due to a shitty ass job and way too much red wine

-I've been doing a starting strength type lifting class at a gym in Baltimore since last September

-competing in the "fun" group at the Charm City Strongwoman this September

-obsessed with dachshunds 

 

Nerdy Pursuits 

-Used to play online text games

-former WoWer

-currently playing too much Marvel Heroes (why is it addictive?)

-read GoT long before the HBO show

-this will be my 5th year going to DragonCon

-went to ComicCon in the 90s before it became Hollywood Con.  I think the big movie promotion was Shark Tale...

-I prefer DragonAge over Mass Effect

-I've mostly given up my facebook game addiction and no longer want to build cities and farms and places for ponies to live.

-love Fables comics and all their spin offs.  Feel too overwhelmed by Marvel Comics.

 

Current Goals - 

-lose weight until my stomach is flat (picking an exact number is silly to me)

-squat 200 lbs (up to 180x5)

-DL 250 lbs (at 200 now)

-cook at home more than I have been the past few months

How did you get started doing the beef share thing?

 

I used eatwild.com for the first two.  Lots of emails to the farmers for pricing and dates.  The one I'm trying out now is through our local butcher/health food store type place.  I was there and saw a pamphlet that they do meat CSAs and bigger meat shares if you have the freezer space.

Handsome and I just got an apartment sized freezer, so I'm eager to stock up. I always thought EatWild was just for the States... turns out I didn't do my homework and they have a section for canucls like me too! Awesome. Thanks!
