I feel seriously like a BAMF.

Recommended Posts

We have stairs in our office that leads to a document storage area, we also have a unofficial meeting room there since it's the only room in the whole shop that's not finished. ANYWAYS. We had a sample part at the bottom of the stairs, the piece is 5"x6"x20" almost solid steel (minus the few holes for valves and what not. Last year I couldn't bring it up because it was heavy (I had estimated it at about 80-90 pounds). Today we were cleaning those stairs so we had to move it upstairs, two guys took it and weren't able to bring it up since it's very awkward.

Anyways, I just thought to myself, if I put two fingers there and hold the side, bla bla bla, next thing you know, I brought the block up 21 stairs alone with sheer strength.

Catch is, I then checked the weight, it's about 130 pounds.

They just looked at me in awe. I didn't say shit, I just sat down and continued to work. I'll go take a picture of the block if I get a chance from an angle that doesn't compromise any design specs.

That's a nice looking block. Well done Duality :)

Well done, sir!

Thank you sirs.

It's the most awkward thing to bring up a set of narrow stairs. I had two fingers in the hole on the round part on the left and a grip at the bottom.

Actually re-calculated it, it weights 170 pounds and not 130 lol that's almost like lifting my own bodyweight up 21 stairs.

So what you are saying is you are a good person to call for body dragging problems. Good to know....

You need to bring a body up a set of stairs? No prob ;)

Hahaha, you totally BAMF'd that!

I can totally imagine some of your coworkers sneaking up there, trying to lift it up and then come back down to stare at you in awe. Weeell done!

Yeah I did, I still feel like a boss haha, my ex supervisor (he changed departement) actually asked me where did I put the block yesterday afternoon because he was going up those stairs and noticed they were clean. He was the one I tried bringing it up with last time. I just told him I brought it up alone Monday, he just looked at me like "euh, ...., ok"

It's the block cavity of a hydraulic boom extension cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder hallow rod welds on that smaller extruded circular part. It's about 45' long done. I'd post drawings, but I could get fired xD.

That block has a few purge ports, extend and retract ports and two valves. So you connect everything to that block so you don't have external hydraulic lines running.

They work 3 cylinders in series to extend the boom arm. The boom is about 260' extended and 140' retracted. Here is an example of two. We actually make the ones going in the grey/red/white one.
