Greetings from Planet Eri!

Hi from the UK!

I'm Eri, pleased to be here. Very excited to be finally sorting myself out health and fitness wise. I'm using the time between Christmas and New Year to gather some knowledge, and then, I'm going for it.

Glad to have found this site, I've always found gyms and fitness places a bit scary. This seems friendlier. ^_^

Hi SilverRapier. =) I shall read those stories with a cup of tea later. XD to tell you the truth, I'm not totally sure. I used to be at Slimming World (it works, don't get me wrong) but I joined after putting about 14lbs on after working in a pub (I'm from the UK) and while working there, my weight crept up, and I couldn't shift it. While the plan I was on worked, they weigh you every week. If I put on a lb, I would feel like a failure. Thing is, it's really only a good plan if you've got a lot of weight to lose to start with; it doesn't take muscle gain into account. So I lost the weight, but still remained pretty much sedentary. So my goal is to make an improvement in the next six months. I'm moving away for that time to university in another country and I'm going to use this time to cook for myself and start working out. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for getting so lazy, I used to swim twice a week, doing 60 lengths in an hour, I was alright at that. But I want to build my strength up a bit too. I am going to try the whole Paleo thing too. Just realised how long this post is, sorry about that!

No problem Eri.

 

Look up the workouts CK metnionned, they are good for building strength. The Paleo lifestyle is pretty good. I find that " a little meat, a pile of veggies" makes

for easy meal plans. :D Not to mention the awesomeness that are eggs.

 

Yeah, weighing in once a week can be demoralising. I use a measuring tape myself. Once a month I measure certain areas and take note of the differences, if any. You'll find what to measure and how here:http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/07/how-to-track-progress/.

Thank you so much for the help and the nice welcome. =) that does seem a much better way to measure progress. And yes, eggs are awesomeness. XD omelette is basically short for omnomnomelette.
