GreenMatt
So - I'm currently in the middle of a summer fundraising challenge...namely walking from Land's End in Cornwall (Britain's most southwesterly point) to John O'Groats in Scotland (the most northeasterly point). I just hit 500 miles, on my 34th day! only another 600 to go...Matt 3 Quote Link to comment

SugarRay
Five hundred miles?! Ahem!"It's a dangerous business, Frodo GreenMatt, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."...I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. Regardless, well done! Took me and a few others a day to walk something like six miles when I was doing my Duke of Edinburgh Award challenge. Five hundred miles in 34 days? That's brilliant. I hope your trip to Mount Doom John O'Groats goes well! =D 1 Quote SugarRay - Lycan - MonkLevel 4 - STR : 5 | DEX : 8 | STA : 3 | CON : 5 | WIS : 8 | CHA : 1 Challenges: No. 1 - No.2 - No.3 - No.3: SugarRay's Comeback Match. GreenMatt
Heh - thanks! I'm going up Ben Nevis on the way, does that count as Mt Doom? "The Road goes ever on and on..." 1 Quote Link to comment
SugarRay
I'm going up Ben Nevis on the way, does that count as Mt Doom? Fun fact! The mountain used to substitute Mount Doom in the film trilogy was a volcano in New Zealand called Mount Ngauruhoe.Mt. Ngauruhoe is almost 2.3km high, whilst Ben Nevis is just over 1.3km.Don't let that worry you! Going up any mountain after walking hundreds of miles is fantastic! =D Quote SugarRay - Lycan - MonkLevel 4 - STR : 5 | DEX : 8 | STA : 3 | CON : 5 | WIS : 8 | CHA : 1 Challenges: No. 1 - No.2 - No.3 - No.3: SugarRay's Comeback Match. GreenMatt
I just looked up a few different schedules on the Web and designed my own...I book all the B&Bs myself, carry everything on my back...it's easy enough to do if you have a smartphone! 1 Quote Link to comment
Shortgorilla
Oh my god, I just realized you're avaeraging over 14 miles a day. 500 miles is impressive enough on it's own, but it seems even more daunting seeing how much you're doing day to day. So awesome. 1 Quote PVP Challenge (Deadlift and OHP): http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/69895-shorts-race-for-the-big-two-ongoing-challenge/ My Battle Log: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/44606-shortgorilla-is-fat/ Link to comment

Elliott907
That's amazing! I'm surprised it took so long to quote the Proclaimers, since that was the first thing that popped into my head. Go you! I assume you've taken a tent/sleeping bag/improv shelter with you? Not been that route, but I can't imagine there's a B&B every 15 miles. That's awesome, I'm wanting to do something like this, myself. Where/how far are you now, and what are you fundraising for?
