Lou_be_Lou
This morning I was a run marshal for my local parkrun (parkrun = free, weekly, 5km timed runs) - it was my second stint at volunteering for them rather than running (18 runs to date). So, I was on "cheering folk on" duty - it was a beautiful morning for running, about 1 degree C, only a little wind, most of the mud was frozen. Last time I learnt that despite the risk of feeling like a tit standing there in high vis clapping and cheering and yelling out encouragement, most folk respond well to being encouraged (hmmmm, shouldn't be a surprise). I am delighted to report that today a massive 25% of the runners earnt PBs!!!!!!! The previous 4 runs had a range of 8-20% earning PBs (average 15%). Some of the PB credit goes to the gorgeous conditions, but I reckon I must've marshalled pretty well.Plus, I had a blast - turns out I love getting to shout enthusiastically at people!
