Trying to get my life on the right track before I can't

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I guess I have to tell a bit about me. I'm currently a Junior in high school, looking to put myself on a decent track, and stop gaining so much weight.

Lets start with some background:

I'm a giant nerd. Pretty much anything nerdy you can think of, I enjoy. I love Sci-fi (Especially Star Wars, which are my favorite movies of all time), adventure movies, some horror, space, books, video games of all sorts, The Walking Dead, robots, technology, the list goes on.

I've always had trouble with my image, due to growing up in a very judgmental small town, where Football is a big thing, and popularity is also. I used to do Weightlifting through my school, and I tried getting fit once, but it just never stuck well with me. I hope to change that with Nerd Fitness, which is actually something I've been looking forward to getting emails from every day. Something I love incorporated into something I have trouble doing helps me get going (and fills me with determination.)

I'm trying also to be open to a lot of different diet ideas. I've always been a picky eater but i'm hoping that by doing Nerd Fitness and by trying to better myself, I can also rid myself of that horrible habit of only enjoying things that are horrible for my body.

Hopefully, through Nerd Fitness, I can finally really start to gain self confidence, and put myself on track for a life worth living, and a body and mindset worth loving.

Thanks for Reading!

Welcome!

BTDT regarding the small town thing...in the end, there's not much to be done except grow up and move on.  When I go back to mine, most folks still treat me like "the fat nerdy girl", nevermind that I grew up to be an accomplished martial artist and search-and-rescue worker who lifts heavy, climbs, and can out-work most of the men there (including those ten years younger than I).  Luckily, it's a big world, and if you know what you want from life and are willing to work for it, you can find it.

"What's the goal here?  What's the lesson here?  What's the best use of my time right now?" <-- Rory Miller's "three sacred questions"

"Lacking in humility?  Don't worry, the bar will give you some." <-- Me.

You've come to the right place my friend.  Catch up on the articles, choose a path, begin your journey, and screw what anyone thinks of you.  If you're choosing your way to get healthy, it doesn't matter what other people's opinions are.  History doesn't remember the haters.

Welcome to the Rebellion!  Now go forth, and kick some ass!
