Happy Pi Day

Recommended Posts

It gets all the glory. But as a constant it doesn't make much sense. The original definition of Pi is the ratio of circuference to the diameter of a circle. But everything in modern mathematics is based off the radius of a circle. Hence the reason that the darn 2pi exists. Tau is easier and makes more intuitive sense when learning about circular stuff.

Cherpumplecake!

My friend made a pumplecake for thanksgiving this year.

Maybe by the time tau day roles around I'll be able to run 6.28 miles...

If you can already run 3.14, 6.28 should be no sweat ;)

Will someone bake me a cherpumplecake? Om nom nom.

That's like saying if you can run a half marathon you can run a full! No, by then I will have a 10 miler under my belt. How much that 10 miler makes me hate running will determine whether or not I do the 6.28.

And the pumple/cherpumple cakes are a long process, but worth it.

I dunno, I have a lot of running friends that say for races, you can run 1/2 the distance in training...and adrenaline will take you the rest of the way. I've sort of found that to be true...when I ran my 10k, I had really only run 3 miles for training.

Also, I started something with the cherpumple. I showed my coworkers and now they are ordering an "apple slab" from a local bakery :/

All that started BTW from a Philly bakery is Reading Terminal Market named Flying Monkey, who originally made the pumplecake 2 years ago. You have to order them months in advance for thanksgiving, or you can buy by the slice in store.
