300 Challenge

Recommended Posts

While at my gym, which is at the Univ. I work at, they had a sign up for the "300 Challenge". It includes the following:

25 pullups

50 deadlifts

50 pushups

50 floorwipes(whatever that is)

50 box jumps

50 kettleball clean & press

25 pullups

Time Limit: 40mins

Prize: T-shirt

I thought this is totally cool. I just wish I could complete it. If they do it next year...I'll give it a try. I can do some of them, but I'm nowhere near close enough to do all of them.

That's pretty hardcore. Sounds fun, but I'd be toasted on the pullups. Incidentally, what are the DL and KB weights?

Oh, and also, a floor wipe is an ab exercise. Lay on your back with your hands anchored (usually on a barbell/post) and kick your feet up towards your head and over to one side. Then do it on the other side. They're hellish while you're doing them, but you feel like a badass afterwards.

Amongst those less skilled you can see all this energy escaping through contorted faces, gritted teeth and tight shoulders that consume huge

amounts of effort but contribute nothing to achieving the task.

Each of the 300 actors had to do it as a final test before the movie.

The 300 was my intro into weight lifting....a capable trainer I had at the time encouraged me to try it with close to the full weight when I had no business doing this. Here is my advice.

Definitely watch out most for your form on the Deadlift, as you will want to be done very quickly. Start with lower weight; it is still a badass workout....

Make sure you force breaths on floor sweepers, as it will make them infinitely easier....

Try to drop you time by running between stations....sounds crazy, but I dropped a few minutes this way....

I went from 45 min to now around 20. It is very doable and easily trainable. I still love it 3 years later!

I go workout tomorrow after my shift. I'll try and find the answers to the DL & KB weight and swapage of sides.

Gang - in the NF Blog Post that CoreyD linked to, there is a video from Men's Fitness Mag that answers all these questions & more.

He is clearly doing the Dead Lifts with 135lbs. And, he says 25 Kettle Bell Presses with each arm.

Also, on the Floor Wipers, he isn't just holding onto a bar to do them. He's holding up the 135 lbs above him (the peak of the bench press) while doing them.

For me, it's between the Floor Wipers and the Pull Ups as to what will take me the longest to finish.

Here is the video:

Well...I was going to ask today, however, my gym (actually in the intrmural center at a university) was closed because of a drama workshop. The coolness of it was it was teaching stage swordmanship and fighting will be all weekend.

Allright...found out yesterday...all weight is in pounds, if you don't speak pounds then you should!!! Its like engines are measured in cubic inches NOT liters. Cokes are measured in liters. Actually nothing should be measured in liters....the metric system is totally unrealistic, like celcius and global warming...total bunk!!!

Deadlifts is 135lb

Kettleball clean & press is a 35lb

Floorwipes use the 135lb as well
