alternatives to squats?

Recommended Posts

Depending on the weight you're working with, you might be able to get some mileage with goblet squats. If you're on the barbell however, front squats are probably your best bet, like BigM said.

Never think of pain or danger or enemies a moment longer than is necessary to fight them. -Ayn Rand

Amongst those less skilled you can see all this energy escaping through contorted faces, gritted teeth and tight shoulders that consume huge

amounts of effort but contribute nothing to achieving the task.

I was gonna suggest goblets as well depending on the weight that you're working with and how high the dumbbells go at your gym.

EDIT: For goblets, you can also double up if you use kettlebells.

Do you have a trap bar?

If you do, as you can see in the picture, these let you get down to parallel and do a dead lift with almost squat form. The drawback is that it brings grip strength into play.
