4AKaus
A friend got me into this site and I'm loving it so far i told her what my answer was to the email question and she suggested I post here so... there it is "What are you struggling with right now?"1.loosing weight and keeping it off... i have done a plethora of "diets"and pills from both suggestions and doctors. My heath problems causedpart of my gain and I had to undergo surgery to correct some of them andprevent further things from happening. however do to that surgery...and hormone treatments... yup MORE WEIGHT! UGH! i decided to try Paleoon my own but didnt realize how off i was! I just picked up a few booksto help... one is "weight loss for people who feel to much" and theother is "living paleo for dummies" then my friend told me about your site!2.I love my husband dearly but getting him to eat his veggies is likefighting any heroic boss with a noob player! He is getting better at itbut getting him to give up the things in the house that i am alsotempted to eat as a "comfort food" is a tuffy...3. finances, we have2 kids in the house still and feeding them all with a minimal budgetwith food that is "healthy" is a challenge... If i bring a carton ofstrawberries into the house (2.99 for the small container) they are gonethe first day... same with any other fruit and even veggies... theynever seem to get enough... while carbs (noodles and rice) are cheap andseem to stretch a lot further. My children are currently with my momfor the remainder of the school year since we moved and needed a stableenvironment for them to be in. Creating a little easier meal timeenvironment, but as i am paying my mother for their care the financesare still rather tight. Link to comment
Laureleye
1. Whether or not you go paleo, a good first step is to rid your diet junk. Junk is expensive and low in nutritional value. Eat as much real food as possible. You can include frozen fruits and veggies in that category, along with brown rice, quoinoa, raw potaotoes especially sweet potatoes. No, you won't be perfectly paleo, but you'll be much better than you were.2. Let your husband eat as many of the veggies as he wants, but you should eat as many as you want. My husband's cookies etc are all in one cupboard and I just don't go there. In an attempt to keep my husband's diet under control, I also have taken to making his treats. I know what's in them and they are lots less expensive. I also use a lot of butternut squash in place of potatoes. i put a small amount of maple syrup on it for my husband and he thinks its great (buy cheapest maple syrup you can buy - it actually has a "stronger" tastes so it's great to use like this). 3. Relatively inexpensive sources of protien are eggs and dairy. While dairy isn't paleo it's a real food. Choose your carbs wisely. Buy meat when its on sale. Buy frozen fruit and veggies. If you're working, a crock pot is a great way to cook healthy meals with limited prep time. Good luck with your goals, and glad you joined us here.
