Waldo Posted March 30, 2013 Report Share Posted March 30, 2013 That's still real impressive. Most people can't even get close. Flex your butt hard to not pike. You can't control that with abs alone. Lifting straight off the ground into it is way hard. Being able to drop into it in an already tense state is much easier than summoning the tension from a resting position. I-Jo Posted March 30, 2013 Report Share Posted March 30, 2013 I'm going to keep working on it- I can really only do them because I do that stuff off of the ground- like if you lift straight leg on the ground- to over head- then drop your legs down to the ground behind your head- straight straight straight- that's how I'm used to being able do my variation- so how you would lift up on the ground- that's how I do it on a bench- and probably how I can even do them 1/2 way at all.I'll have to keep working it- I was pretty surprised I was completely powerless to lift up off the ground- I know myself pretty well and I was VERY surprised I lacked the technique/strength to do it. And I do think it's as much technique as strength- so another thing to think about when I work through it. Another goal to work on!!! more butt flexing- LOL I have a corner market on that but I'm game to add more I was glad I had someone there who does them more often- I checked some videos between stops at the gym and got a better idea- but having someone there to really verify what was going on was helpful for sure. i don't know what I would call what I normally do- LOL I end at the same place at the top but I more like lift then lift again- I dunno if it has a name or not!! rabies_R_us Posted May 22, 2013 Report Share Posted May 22, 2013 I'm late and off-topic... but I did a forum search for pole dancing because I just started taking pole dancing classes. The video posted in here is ridiculously amazing. I even got teared up a little! Anyways, the ground work we did in yesterday's class was killer for abs and it was fun. I'm only three weeks in but my biggest challenge so far is that I get dizzy very quickly. Anyone who can pole dance well is my hero. Link to comment

On the pole dancing thing, am I the only person who is impressed by the athleticism of some pole dancers? I went to a strip club, or 4, in Montreal once and there was one place that had athletes stripping on the poles, double turn on. I honestly enjoy that more than the nudity at this point.
