Hello from Melbourne

Hi there,

 

Just came across this website, thought I would give it a crack and see what the community is like. 

 

I'm a 27 year old guy in Melbourne. Currently I'm doing a PhD in Computer Science (so long long long stretches of sitting). Once upon a time I was a fairly fit guy, but after I started University at about age 19 I never really managed to keep it up. I currently weigh in somewhere towards 70kg's and I'm about 165cm tall (so not overweight but quite unfit). Ive recently joined the local gym and I have started with the Rippetoe Starting Strength program to kick things off (so lots of squats, dead lifts, bench, etc). I've never been much of a runner (I tend to do well with strength training instead) but I may try and work in a couple of short jogging sessions a week as well. I'm also trying to keep my diet clean. Eventually I'd like to try out going Paleo but I'll have to convince my wife on that one :)

 

My current goal is to reduce my body fat down to around 12% and gain strength.
