[26 May - 31 July] Open PvP - Weighted Pull-ups

Mikroftt and I started this friendly PvP during the most recent 6 Week Challenge and want to open it up to anyone else who wants to join in.  It's currently open-ended, but we may put a closing date on it in the future.

 

PvP Rules: 

1) Sets will be 3 rounds done in pyramid format (ex. 5-3-1)

2) Each set will be increasing in weight (ex. 15-25-35)

3) Reps will be done to full extension (chin above the bar to arms "straight" at the bottom)

4) Rounds must be completed with no more than 5 minutes of rest between

5) Warm up sets are not required but it is recommended that you do some kind of warm up before the workout

6) At least 2 rounds a week to count for leader board (nonconsecutive days)

7) One set per week of max reps without weights

 

Leader board will be posted each week for:

1) Most reps

2) Heaviest weight

3) Most reps without weight

4) Biggest improvement

 

Each participant should add a reply that will serve as their tracking space.  That way we can keep the results together.

6/15/15 - 5x21#, 3x31#, 1x41# - I have some adjustable ankle weights with little half pound inserts, so I'm going to try and add just one pound each time I do weighted pull-ups.  Incremental progress FTW!

I was repping out 5 @ +90, but the rubber grip was slipping and I didn't pay attention to full ROM, so I can't certify that I did it, but it will happen, if not this week, next week.

18 reps.  3 @ +90, 2 @ +100, 1 @+110.  I was so tired for this workout.  Next time I'll do better.

I think I'm going to jump in, and participate with you guys, even though I'm not adding weight yet, if that's cool.  Plan is to start adding weight when I'm up to being able to do a 3x10 which isn't too far out.

After some talking with tyr, there has been a change of plans.  I'm gonna go ahead and start incorporated weighted stuff now.  So I should have some weighted numbers posted within the next week.

I was at my other gym yesterday and they don't have the belt to strap plates to me, so I used the cable machine.  I don't know if the weights are legit or not, so I'll let the judges decide.

So, I feel like I need a consensus from the competitors.  Per rule #6, you need to do at least 2 rounds a week to count for the leader board.  But rule #7 says you have to done one bodyweight set per week.  Should the BW set count as one of the 2 rounds for the week?

So, I feel like I need a consensus from the competitors.  Per rule #6, you need to do at least 2 rounds a week to count for the leader board.  But rule #7 says you have to done one bodyweight set per week.  Should the BW set count as one of the 2 rounds for the week?

 

I would vote for 1 BW and 1 weighted set = 2 attempts for the week as the minimum.

 

PS:  I won't have an entry this week cause of life.
