Yay, i've been following this post with interest, glad to read you're ok with girls opinions. Here's my 2c

I think you're right that you don't know if she's interested, and if you want to sound it out a bit more, go ahead.

I ask my co-workers what they're doing for the weekend all the time, but with a relative stranger it's different.

I've never asked a guy out, was always too shy, but would plant what I thought were massive leads (turns out guys dont really understand the female subtleties).

If that were me, I'd ask a guy I was casually chatting with what they were up to, to gather intel. If you said out with friends at the beach, i'd know a bit more about you and we'd have things in common. If you said out with girlfriend or wife, i'd know to change conversation tone to be just friends. If you said nothing, I'd be a bit stumped... But if i liked you I'd probably be asking all of my friends what it means, and they'd tell me to wait to see what you said next.

We're complex creatures! Hope that helps.

Well I had considered this. But since I'm stupid I replied with, "nothing ". And what I meant by that was "nothing exciting" and even that isn't true. I have two podcasts to record. But still I'm dumb and now according to you I have her stumped. Which might be a good thing. Too much too soon isn't good.

OK Dude, here's the deal: You ask her out and we'll leave you be regardless of what happens afterwards

BUT

If you DON'T Then you will have to suffer some punishment that's both hilarious and Rhymes. And Yes! It MUST Rhyme! *cue thunder and lightning*

Uhm...I don't need to be punished. I told everyone I was going to do it. If I deemed she was good for me. I feel scared of what these results may be.

Please don't. Seriously.

If you don't ask her out , us girls will post about girly stuff on here . Like periods , hello kitty and one direction .

For real. This would not be polite of them.

I don't. If our men's thread becomes defiled with the blood of unborn bebehs I will be displeased. A grudge, I will hold.
So, why does it have to be a "date", anyway?

Ask her for coffee. As in "hey, class kicked my butt today. Wanna grab a cup of coffee?" Friends do coffee. You might discover, over coffee, that you do/do not want to date her. No harm, no foul.

It's part of the socializing thing. Heck, I've been known to go grab coffee with my (men) friends.... and I'm married (and so were some of them)... grabbing a coffee is just part of daily life, it isn't a "date"... but, it can lead to dating, if you decide you want it to.

This was more myvplan. Something completely casual. But probably not coffee.

Okay, this lady shall bow out now (though, I am watching *grin*)

You were warned, Bruce...

Will you just

please ask her, man?

i will not ask her,

Bruce-I-am.

I will not ask

her out, my man.

Would you ask her

Here or there?

I would not ask her

here or there.

I would not ask her

anywhere.

I will not ask

her out, my man.

i will not ask her,

Bruce-I-am

Would you ask her

in a house?

Would you ask her

with a mouse?

Would you ask her

in a box?

Would you ask her

with a fox?

Not in a box.

Not with a fox.

Not in a house.

Not with a mouse.

I would not ask her here or there.

I would not ask her anywhere.

I would not ask her out, my man.

i will not ask her, Bruce-I-am.

Would you? Could you?

in a car?

She may like you.

You will see.

She may like you

I would not, could not, in a box.

I could not, would not, with a fox.

I will not ask her with a mouse

I will not ask her in a house.

I will not ask her here or there.

I will not ask her anywhere.

i will not ask her, Bruce-I-am.

Say!

In the dark?

Here in the dark!

Would you, could you, in the dark?

I would not, could not,

in the dark.

Would you, could you,

in the rain?

I would not, could not, in the rain.

Not in the dark. Not on a train,

Not in a car, Not in a tree.

i will not ask her, Bruce, you see.

Not in a house. Not in a box.

Not with a mouse. Not with a fox.

I will not ask her here or there.

i will not ask her anywhere!

You do not like

her out, my man?

I will not

ask her,

Bruce-I-am.

Could you, would you,

with a goat?

I would not,

could not.

with a goat!

Would you, could you,

on a boat?

I could not, would not, on a boat.

I will not, will not, with a goat.

I will not ask her in the rain.

I will not ask her on a train.

Not in the dark! Not in a tree!

Not in a car! You let me be!

i will not ask her in a box.

i will not ask her with a fox.

I will not ask her in a house.

i will not ask her with a mouse.

i will not ask her here or there.

i will not ask her ANYWHERE!

I will not ask

her out, my man.

i will not ask her,

Bruce-I-am.

You will not ask her.

So you say.

Try it! Try it!

And you may.

Try it and you may I say.

Bruce!

If you will let me be,

I will try them.

You will see.

Say!

I'll ask her out, my man!

I will!! I'll her, Bruce-I-am!

And I would ask her in a boat!

And I would ask her with a goat...

And I will ask her in the rain.

And in the dark. And on a train.

And in a car. And in a tree.

'Cause I'm a badass Rebel you see!

So I will ask her in a box.

And I will ask her with a fox.

And I will ask her in a house.

And I will ask her with a mouse.

And I will ask her here and there.

Say! I will ask her ANYWHERE!

I will so ask

her out, my man!

Thank you!

Thank you,

Bruce-I-am

WOW! Lol! That seriously cracked me up. Though some of those rhymes were a bit...well they read out loud as if you want me to do a lot more than just hang out with her. Lol. I will say...I was warned than immideiately punished. I had no chance to do what I said I would. Tuesday. TUESDAY PEOPLE!!!

Lol

I know, so was mine, sorta. You guys really need to meet me in person, I am never serious. It would help avoid these misunderstandings.

Also, for the record, I'm a supporter of asking her out for coffee. Asking her out doesn't need to be this big hoopla.

As a man who occasionally lurks (usually by accident) and posts in the women's guild (when I feel I can add to it), I am fine with women posting here if they add to the conversation.

So, men, I almost asked a lady out today. I was considering asking the cashier at the bookstore, then she mentioned something about her husband to another cashier... I really need to remember looking for a ring...

I do this all the time (check for rings). Learned it from my dad.

I started checking for rings after I asked a girl out in my sophomore year of college (edit: and she was all for it) and when she friended me on Facebook, I saw she had a husband in the air force. It never would have occurred to me at 19 to be that aware.

I'm pretty sure I take the cake on this, and I should have learned it long ago. I dated a married girl for a year... Ready for the kicker? I also proposed (Somehow I got turned down?)... Wanna play this game Cowboy? Haha

I learned a long time ago to look for a ring because I don't like being murdered. More so since I was once married and cheated on and I know what comes with that. I'm now extra cautious.

Gosh, I'd prefer not to. I'd much rather leave women to their successful or unsuccessful marriages without my being a part of that equation.

Also, in regards to your situation, that sucks. Especially for a year.

Sorry to hear that bro. One thing I cannot stand is a cheater (sounds hypocritical, but hear me out).

She did not cheat on him with me. They had a rocky marriage, and she kept going after me, but I would not do anything until after they separated and she knew that. Apparently I didn't wait long enough because about a year after they separated and we got together, she started cheating on me with him again. They never got the divorce, but "were going through the process of it" and I was waiting for it to go through before I proposed. When I found out that she was going back with him, I panicked and ended up proposing, but of course got turned down.

I would love to make a broad statement and say women are awful but the truth is people are awful. Some. Others are fantastic. I do my best to be the latter. I hope that when people think on or speak of me it is in a regard that inspires others to be good and treat people with kindness empathy and respect. Sadly the whole world doesn't see it that way. For me that is a big part of being "manly" maybe understanding those who lash out or act immaturely or negatively and try to avoid that. Spreading something good instead.
