Silent observer no longer!

Greetings fellow rebels,

I have been following your movement since the beginning of August 2011 (well, at least devoured Steve's articles since then and tried to implement stuff in my life here and there) and registered on these forums in

late October 2011. I always thought of joining the challenges since then but always procrastinated on them.

My name is Sven, I'm 25 and I live in Germany. I'm about to finish my bachelor of science in computer science (and I'm in desperate need of your help!). I love being active and I also love playing on my X-Box 360.

Concerning body types, I'm quite elfish I think. Up until three years ago, I wasn't very active. That changed when I discovered Jugger (watch the video!) as my sport and founded my own team. We reached the top half of the German league in our first year and ranged in the top 15 teams the last two years. Starting with jugger and feeling the need to become better, faster, stronger, I became more and more interested in fitness and nutrition.

I tried starting running regularly, but while I consider it freeing and fun, it never lasted very long. I also love bodyweight excercises but they never became a part of my lifestyle too.

I have been dreaming about learning parkour for two years now but I neither feel that I have the endurance nor the strength to really get going. But I'm not starting at zero either. I can run 5k in under 30 min without stopping without practice, and two weeks ago I tried assessing where to start at the angry birds workout plan, and I did two sets of 5 pull-ups, two sets of 10 push-ups, two sets of 25 body-weight squats and two sets of 30 second planks.

I want to improve on those because I think functional fitness is very important if the zombie apocalypse finally arrives or the world ends by any other means in the end of 2012. I asprire to become an assassin/ranger hybrid and I hope that my fellow rebel friends here can help me out with that.

I want my superpower to be inspiring (and helping) others become more fit and healthy, especially my dad, my brother and some people on my jugger team could need that. I'm also trying to support my girl-friend I live together with on her journey to lose weight, but right now she's doing fine counting calories with her smart phone and doing aqua fitness and aqua jogging classes. It seems like she has found something that works for her and I'm proud of her.

I think that's enough unsorted thoughts for now, I hope to start blogging about my 2012 goals (half-marathon, some sort of triathlon and starting parkour, among others) and the last two weeks of the ongoing challenge this weekend.

I love to be finally an official active part of this rebellion.

Greetings,

Sven :)

Wilkommen! What part of Germany are you from? I only ventured there to see Schloss Neuschwanstein, but spent just over a week in Austria. Beautiful country!

I'm with ya on still sorting out the goals. I love to run also but I'm switching my focus to lifting more weights, at least for now.

I've found the forums to be great so far :)

Welcome to the Rebellion! Seems like your headed in the right direction - love the parkour goal! Also, I never heard of Jugger, but I watched the vid, and that looks like a crazy amount of fun! I look forward to seeing your progress with those goals. Good luck! :)
