MEN ONLY THREAD part two

Hey you guys, I was wondering if I can throw this in here:

I've started to grow my hair kinda long (by my standards) and I was wondering if you guys knew any resources towards maintaining it, at this point, it's just parted, and it's reaches mid-ear level, so here's a reference:

Although my hair isn't as clean nor purple, but I was wondering what your guys' opinion on this matter? Thoughts? Ideas? Warnings? Jokes?

I have my hair at least chin length all the way around. And the only thing I really do is make sure to let it dry before you go to bed. Otherwise mine fluffs up like nobodies business. Still need to get it cut so it's stylish... I've just been growing it out to get to this point...

I have noticed that on the days I have school and skip the shower, the hair lays pretty flat the next day.

Warning: Beware of the hair in the eyes, mine will actually poke me in the eyes. Like literally stab my eyeballs... and if I'm carrying something, it sucks...

Keep it as oil-free as possible.  Long hair WILL f*** with your complexion with remarkable speed.

I've gotten mixed reviews from family ("Get a haircut" VS "You look good") so I'm a bit confused. And yeah, I know what you mean, if I don't put it in a ponytail, sweat gets on it and my own hair pokes me in the eyes! >.<

I'm just doing as I want with it... growing it out to see what it looks like at around shoulder length. My thing is I haven't really gotten a cut and more just trimmed it every so often.

Well, since this is basically the shaving thread...

Do any of you fellas have experience with zits and shaving? Currently I'm shaving every day with an electric razor. Thing is, I think it may increase the amount of zits on my face. Would shaving manually help?

I've had this issue myself. When I used an electric razor I was much more prone to breakouts. Shaving manually has helped as well as proper face washing after the shave. I think that the oils build up on the electric razor and can cause issues. I say this, but dont know if it is true. I cleaned my electric razor very infrequently so I chalk it up to that.

Gotta clean the electric shaver every time you shave, get a wet and dry one and you can just rinse it off with hot water and leave it in pieces on the side to dry, then run it through the proper (expensive) cleaning stuff once a week. I do a combination of manual shaves and electric shaves, never get zits fortunately. Mind you I generally only shave every other day, gives the skin a chance to recover.

Back in high school I had my hair down to my shoulders, chopped it completely off going to college, then grew it out again to just below my ears or so. Here are some tips from those days.

- Use conditioner (I do this with short hair, but it's even more important for long hair).

- It was suggested to keep it oil free above, but at the same time you don't want it too dry. Find that balance.

- If you're use to washing your hair everyday, stop. Play around with it, but every other day tends to be a good starting point depending on how oily your hair naturally is. I always found that my hair looked the best the day after I washed it (and there's an actual semi-expensive product designed to give you this look too http://www.jonathanproduct.com/product.php?productid=16142 ). On days you don't wash your hair, just use water, but skip the shampoo.

- Use some kind of product. Nothing that will make it crunchy (gel, hair spray, etc), but use a bit of hair paste, wax, or something. Not a lot...just a bit.

- Having longer hair doesn't mean you stop getting it cut. Make sure to keep getting it trimmed to some extent.

Hey guys, I noticed this original thread started with the the topic of ED and how the OP overcame this after getting back in shape and lifting to increase testosterone. I have been experiencing this problem for the past EIGHT years! Ever since breaking up with my last girlfriend.  Not to much trouble going solo, only with a partner.

Physically I have always been in great shape always working out since college (im 37). The past few years I have been dealing with depression and anxiety but now I am taking a saritonin reuptake antidepressant and have been on the paelo diet / stronglifts 5x5 for the past 5-6 months. My blood work says that my T levels are fine.

One thing that I can say is that Ive had alcohol in my system every time ive tried to have sex in the past 8 years and have hand various ranges of difficulty each time. I am going to try without alcohol next time and see if that is restricting my blood flow or if it indeed psychological. My dr. told me to try that before he would prescribe me viagra.

Has anyone else had any similar issues, problems, solutions?

Personally, I've never had any ED issues, but I've discovered that I'm unable to orgasm if I'm not driving things during the festivities. Doesn't matter what's going on or how nice it is, if I'm not driving there's no happy ending for me. I've come to learn it's a psychological hangup, relating to some personal issues and a LOT of porn over the years. I found that this book http://www.amazon.com/No-More-Mr-Nice-Guy/dp/0762415339/ helped me a lot.

I think your idea about no booze next time is great, and I'd suggest laying off any porn (if you tend to partake) for a while, see if that makes a difference.

Hope that's helpful :) Good luck!

That's great advice.

I had my first ED issue a few month back, and at 28, and the best shape of my life it freaked me out a bit. It was the first time with a partner in 366 days (I took a year of self imposed celibacy after my divorce), and I chalked it up to performance anxiety.

Have you considered that it may be related to the partners you are engaging with? I found that it kind of persisted with the next few rounds, but once i built more of a connection with the partner that the issue went away. Society tells men to be slutty, to bang what ever they can. Don't get me wrong, I see a girl walking down the street in a short skirt the thought of bending her over seems great, but for me, actually doing it needs to involve some emotional connection.

Have you felt a emotional connection over the 8 years since this started? perhaps try dating a girl/partner for a while without going to the bedroom, establish something beyond just a physical attraction before moving forward?

Currently lost in Fitness.

I can't say that my issue was specifically ED, but it had some marked similarities (ie. the admiral didn't salute). I found two things that helped solve the problem. I had been single for a LONG time lading up to that and just kind of fell into the habit of tossing one off on a daily basis, in conjunction with partaking in a lot of porn that, over the years (yes, you read that right, I typed YEARS. Plural.) got more and more narrow and 'kinky' and then when I suddenly had a romantic partner it was kind of difficult to get all revved up over something outside of that niche.

And also, while I found her pretty, and I liked her a lot, and we fired on a lot of different cylinders, I DIDN'T find her to be very physically attractive, and that didn't help matters.

So assuming you find your partners to be attractive (and honestly, isn't that the goal?) I'd recommend maybe going nofap for a few days leading up to planned coitus and see if a little overpressure in the system helps the situation.

Sounds like it is related to porn usage. This is something that seems to happen to a lot of people who watch a lot of porn. From what I've seen, abstaining from porn tends to resolve this within weeks. Of course it could be something completely different,

Yes, porn may be the issue, ive tried laying off and realized that if i wasnt going to be getting any with a partner in the foreseeable future, there wasnt any reason not to use it.

Ive tried with extremely close friends that ive had an attraction to but didnt want to let feelings get in the way of our friendship, and Ive tried with a couple girls that I didnt know as well. (Never a one night stand). Always had the same issue, especially the first time with the close friends. Additional times were iffy but not like i should.

Been there, done that. However...

I found this site (http://yourbrainonporn.com/) useful for learning how persistent porn use (especially of the internet variety) can mess up your brain wiring.I found that knowledge helped a lot towards my efforts to cut my consumption off, and I've begun to notice improvements in the bedroom life since then.

Ive gone cold turkey for about 3 months last year. Do these experts say that its ok to go solo without the porn?

You mean "visual" fantasy?

The goal is to get to a point where you're simply in the moment, enjoying the sensations. Put another way, the objective is to 'reset' your baseline (sensitivity) back to norms. Any sort of fantasy adds a stimulus, which you're trying to avoid because the stimulus raises your baseline (decreases your sensitivity) as you become accustomed to that particular fantasy. That's the reason, for instance, that chronic porn users tend to move towards kinkier and kinkier stuff. As their baseline moves up they become less and less sensitive to the stimulus so it takes more and more stimulus to get the effect they're after.

I would say avoid any fantasy altogether. After all, you want to resolve the issue with intimate partners right? Is it really worth it to (for instance) use audio fantasy and end up having the same problem b/c your partner doesn't sound as husky as the people from the audio, or doesn't talk as dirty, etc etc.
