Not Being Crushed to Death Woot!

My final bench attempt in the NF Spring Strength Showdown was at least 5 lbs. too much.  It got about halfway up, paused and then gently came down to my chest.  I thought about the roll of shame, but with the size of my gut and weak abs, I was risking serious issues.

 

I dumped the plates, causing a minor ruckus.

 

But I'm no longer afraid of that happening and not being able to deal.

 

Yay!

Awesome! Knowing how to dump a bar in squats and how you'll get out from under a failed bench attempt is important. I'd much rather you have your wife come out and spot you on those in the future though.

first time i had to bail on squat shook me pretty hard, but i came out ok.  thank god i looked up how to do it a while before that though, otherwise i wouldn't have had any clue.

I'm definitely gonna re-establish the safety rails...

 

and weigh down those uprights MORE.  Those are not at all stable and the last thing you want to do is knock over the uprights while trying to rerack.  that's seriously scaring looking man.
