cobaltsword
Hello fellow NerdFitnessers ^^ I'm sure there are gamers among you, be it hardcore, casual or softcore. With the console war raging around the net and having formulated my own opinion on the matter I'd like your opinion. What do you think would be better? Xbox One or PS4? Now I'm an Xbox 360 player, not because I've been since the beginning. But it was my first console and I wanted to play Halo XD So I've stuck with it up to now But the war has started and to be honest when I saw the new Xnox I was (like probably many fans) disappointed and had already partly turned towards the PS4. But now that both consoles are on more or less even grounds, I really don't know which one to take :/ So what's your opinion? Jonny2284
I'm primarily a PC guy away so a console will always be my secondary gaming device, and not until there's a sufficient backlog of games to justify it, but I'm leaning towards PS4 at the minute. I really can't shake this view in the back of my mind that everytime MS has taken away a restriction of the XB1 it's just to get units into homes so they can later do a dashboard update under the guise of "giving the experience we always intended" or somesuch that patches the hindrances back in or leaves you with a machine that won't play new releases until you accept the patch. cobaltsword
That's a good insight I didn't even consider that :/ it's a risk you'd have to take or the safer would be to wait a bit after the XB1 came on the market to be honest when I saw the 24-hour @ connectivity thing I cried out "that's it, i'm going PC" but now I don't know...probably gonna go PS4...the question remains who's gonna have the better price/quality range Oo Quote Level 10 Bleu Gardien Assassin of the Lanomia Clan Buddhist, Traceur, Martial Artist, Assassin, Templar Strenght: 22 Constitution: 9 Dexterity: 4 Wisdom: 12 Stamina: 11 Charisma: 5 - My Epic Quest: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/28629-an-assassins-epic-quest/ - My Tenth-th Challenge: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/56054-cobaltswords-journey-chapter-10/ - Daily Battle Log: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/51677-cobaltswords-journey/ "The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle" - "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" Link to comment
TheMightyMinotaur
I work at a Gamestop so, I've had to develop significant arguments for both of them. The thing that it really boils down to for me is cost and performance. The Xbone has some good looking games coming out for it, but it's considerably more expensive than the PS4 and the PS4 has slightly better hardware. For the price of the Xbone you could get an additional game for the same price if you bought a PS4 instead. As with how it goes every console generation, it's about preference more than anything at right now I prefer the PS4. FalseAesop
Meh, I'll wait. Somewhere down the road there will be some game I really want to buy and when it's out I'll compare what people who've owned them are saying then choose. Rumours are going they're gonna be very expensive compared to the 360 or ps3 games :/this still is going to be a difficult choice to make... Yeah, it's really just your loyalties and which exclusives you prefer. And XBone and PS4 games are going to cost the same as XB360 and PS3 games, 59.99, at least that's what we have all of them in our preorder inventory at. And yes, I'm a gamer. I'm currently pounding my way through the Bioshock franchise again and then I've got Assassin's Creed III and Dark Souls on my shelf waiting for me. I also have a gigantic Steam library I need to work my way through at some point. I do most of my gaming on PS3 but PC gaming is nice too, I do mostly indie on PC because I just have a laptop right now, not really able to do some heavy gaming on a lappy designed for efficiency. During the interview at GameStop they ask you a lot of gaming related questions, stuff like what kind of games you play, what studios you like, what your favorite series is. There's no one who works at my GameStop that isn't a gamer. Some of us aren't as hardcore as others, but we all game. Normally if there's a midnight release, you can expect everyone from work to be there whether or not they're actually working. I might not be gaming constantly, but I go pretty hard when I do. I pounded my way through Bioshock Infinite within 48 hours of it coming out. Less than that actually, now that I really think about it, slept through class the day after it came out cause I was up until four or five in the morning playing it. Working at a game store is pretty awesome. It's not by any stretch of the word difficult, but having a healthy work ethic helps. The worst part of my job is probably the people who come in and complain about trade-in prices, it happens a lot. Guys who come in with a copy of Madden '08 and wonder why we're only offering them fifty cents for it. I had some mom yell at me for a good 5 minutes about her son's DS games being worth three dollars. I can't do anything about that, even if I wanted to. The prices we get for trade-ins are set by our corporate office and take into account how new the game is and how many copies we have. For instance, The Last of Us costs $54.99 while Defiance costs I believe something like $19.99, even though they came out really close to each other. We don't have copies of Last of Us, we have many copies of Defiance. Totally not my call, so the next time you trade something in, if you don't like the price, don't take it out on the guy working behind the counter, not his fault. My absolute favorite part of my job is seeing customers excited about new games. Having a 30 minute long conversation with a young kid about how crazy excited they are for the new Pokemon. Or talking the intricacies of the storytelling in Far Cary 3 with a couple guys. Sharing your reactions to absolutely gut wrenching opening to The Last of Us or shock at the ending of Spec Ops: The Line. Sharing crazy achievements, like double headshots or deathless game completions. The absolute ridiculousness of Saint's Row or the horrifying darkness of Dead Space. The passion of gamers is why I love working at GameStop. And hey, what other job can you answer a customer's question with, "Because everything is better with pirates?" TL;DR: I game hard. Working at a game store kicks ass. Quote Level 2 Dwarven Noob, Bluff ConquerorSTR: 3 DEX: 0 STA: 4 CON: 4 WIS: 0 CHA: 2Challenge thread! | Battle log! Link to comment

It's like in a GamesWorkshop, all of the employees paint/play ^^ Okay i'm really more of a soft core gamer compared to you, I play when I can, have my favourite franchises (like AC ), and I certainly don't play that long in the evening into the night. The longest i ever played was for 5 hours straight (on Far Cry 3 ). I play on my Xbox but that's just because it's the first console I got and I don't have the money for a powerfull pc, plus i'm used to playing on the console now. Right now i'm trying to finish The Witcher 2, then I still have Darksiders 2 to finish. If you've played the other AC games you'll like ACIII ^^ it's very well put together in overall aspects but has a few minus points in my opinion; still high on my list though. It's a shame people just vent like that at store employees, I never do that. It's disrespectfull and just scapegoating on the part of the costumer. I can imagine it must be fun to see people get excited about new games and discuss them. If I may ask what was your opinion about Far Cry 3? TheMightyMinotaur
The hardest difficulty in that one is really intense. Heavies become the bane of your existence until you can get the heavy beatdown skill, even then, not a cakewalk. On my first playthrough I had what was possibly my greatest gaming moment ever. I took down two helicopters on the southern island with the bow. Never felt more accomplished than that, well... More accomplished than that while playing a game. Raikas
Meh, I'll wait. This is me as well. I honestly don't see much benefit to being an early adopter when it comes to new consoles - I always wait for (at least) the first big price drop. By that point they've generally worked out most of the bugs and built up a decent library of titles. There will certainly be plenty of PC games and last-gen titles to keep me entertained in the meantime. ETA: which doesn't actually answer the title question! Heh. Realistically, I suppose I'll end up with both - I don't have any kind of loyalty to corporations, so it's just a matter of them having exclusives that I'm interested in at some point. Cr33g
I've never had an X-Box before. I was considering an X-Box 360, but then thought I'd get the next one, the "720" as it was called at some stage, which we know officially know as X-Box One. I heard about the X-Box One at E3 then I saw the X-Box One presentation at PAX AUS 2013 and I wasn't impressed. I think I will skip it. I have pre-ordered a PS4, because I've had a PS2 and PS3. I was originally a Nintendo only fanboy, but now I cross between Nintendo, Sony and my PC. I'm getting a PS4 because to put it simply, I like the sound of it. Quote Link to comment
