Novius
Also "irregardless" drives me NUTS. Like, I need to refrain from smacking someone who says that in my presence. IT'S NOT EVEN A WORD! My mother in law says it all the time... I have learned serious restraint over the years.I cannot tell you how happy I am to know that someone else has as much loathing for this word as I do. ojideagu
A regime is a form of government. A regimen is a plan. It seriously drives me crazy when people use "regime" when they mean "regimen," and I hadn't seen people confusing the two until I started reading fitness articles, blogs, and forums. Now I see it everywhere. Don't be that person! Use these words correctly!Ok, that's off my chest. What are your linguistic pet peeves? Not in the UK. We never use the word "Regimen" infact I have never heard anyone use that word once.Regime is correct in all contexts. And seeing as It's our Language, I think we can say we are correct Quote Link to comment

But I will honestly tell people I don't speak English, I speak American. As a side note the official language of my workplace is UK English so I do have to write documents correctly. EmCee
Some of my peeves have been covered (you're/your, there/they're/their, alot/a lot) but here are some more:PIN NUMBER AND ATM MACHINEThe worst is when the bank teller says, "Please enter your PIN number." I want to reach across the counter and strangle her. IRREGARDLESSJust... what? When someone says "good" when they should say "well". And these have been mentioned but I'm just whole-heartedly seconding "intensive purposes" and "could care less". WTAF.
