Overheard in the gym - Share!

People who do not put equipment away, really, really bug me, got to my gym last night and there were tents, mattresses and hiking packs strewn all over the place, the excuse I was given, I was looking for something..............grrrrrr

First though when I read this... and associated mental imagery.

I often run into My Little Ponies in my gym. The worst are the Littlest Pet Shop accessories. Stepping on one of those barefoot is like stepping on a LEGO.

I know a bloke at the gym who's one rep maximum on the bench press is 200 kg (440 Ibs). Considering his body weight is about 93 kg (205 Ibs), more than twice his body weight, that is an incredible feat. 

 

He was telling us the other day about how people ask him, "What's the heaviest you can bench?" and he'll reply "Two hundred kilos.", they'll then ask "How many reps?" and he'll politely respond "Just one, it's my max."

 

Their response, "Is that all?" 

 

I can't tell if the final response is ignorant or arrogant, or both. Considering this guy warms up with the average gym goers' max and can essentially out-bench anyone at our gym...

Goal: working set of 350# squat, 235# bench, 370# deadlift, 15% or lower BF%

Fix slight pelvic tilt, reinforce lower back to help disc issue

Talking to a trainer at the gym.

 

Me - "I changed my program.  I kept seeing a dude on NF forums gain more and more ground away from my numbers, I had to change it up and go a bit harder"

Him - "Be careful, a lot of people on the internet don't know what the hell they are talking about"

Me - "I'm doing Jim Wendler's program"

Him - "Oh, his 5/3/1?  Nevermind, that's serious shit there.  That's good"

Me - "I'm doing the Boring But Big variant"

Him - "Yeah, it will get you there.  It will get you strong.  It will also kick your ass.  Good choice"
