Nerd Heroes

So that's why he was briefly your avatar...

My nerd heroes:

The Penny Arcade staff, largely Robert Khoo, their business manager

If we're going fictional: Doc Brown. For some reason I'm having trouble thinking of more. I'm sure my memory will be helped when people post more.

I maintain I lose zero nerd cred because my first thought of a hero is the business manager of a webcomic about video games.

The Tin Man: Cyborg Ranger

Tin Man's Out of Date Epic Quest

I am what I do.

*Sigh* I went and checked out Penny Arcade... and most of it flies over my head. Oh well.

But can I interest you in:

OF COURSE Felicia Day. Because yes. She is awesome.

And Penny Arcade is very specific and mostly is about current video games. Which is funny because I don't play a lot of very current ones but I still love the comic. And it's how I learn about a lot of pop culture things like Twitter and Draw Something.

Dur. I missed some obvious ones. If we're continuing with real people:

Basically I love real-life nerds who have made it their lives to contribute to general nerdiness while still being huge fans. I love that book (Simon Pegg's autobiography) because it brings up with the weirdness of things like growing up loving Star Trek and being in the recent Star Trek movie.

Ah... nice one. Does Samuel L. get some love, then?

Who are your nerd heroes and role models?

To paraphrase:

Mine remains now, and will always be... the Duckman.

I haven't been a gamer since college (7 years ago now), but I still follow PA. It doesn't get old.
