Ghost
I need to improve my diet. It's not the worst in the world, but I think I may be eating too much (for my goals).Naturally, I'm looking for methods to monitor what I eat to get useful information. What sort of methods can I use to keep track of, and find out my intake? And the above mentioned 'goals' are to drop my bf% to 10-15%.Thanks guys (and gals)! Urzie
I use My fitness pal, free app on phone, to track my calories. It has a fairly large database of different foods, with most of the nutritional info, you can add your own recipes and track your weight and calorie intake. You can check your nutritional info at the end of the day to check if you got enough of everything, assuming the info for what you're eating is correct. #3 - #4 - #5 - #6 - #7 - currentJuggling PvP, Squat PvP, HOoRAY Link to comment
JessOfAllTrades
I second MyFitnessPal. I just went back to using it and good god I need to cut down on my sugar intake. Storytelling Rebel | Blog | Twitter "“You've seen my descent, now watch my rising." ~ Rumi Link to comment
Morrigainz
I use MFP as well. I have a friend that uses LoseIt, but I find it doesn't offer as many options as MFP (for instance, you can change your activity level on MFP but I couldn't find where to do that on LoseIt). Level ? This is Seth
There's a thread around here somewhere about friending peoples on MFP... You ever see those guys who look like they totally used to be in shape? I'm working to get back to that... Link to comment
Cameron
I'm also on My Fitness Pal. I also started at a similar weight and height as you. Took me about 3 months to lose 20lbs I think, which put me around 15% BF. Level 3 AssassinSTR: 7 | DEX: 4 | STA: 4 | CON: 5 | WIS: 5 | CHA: 3 Link to comment
Burizado
I started tracking by using MyPlate from LiveStong.com. I created a lot of recipes of what I was making at home, and they had a pretty good database on food as well. I did that for about the first 4 months of 2012, then kind of dropped off as I was pretty much in the routine of what I ate and how much. Now I am starting to track again, just to make sure I didn't slowly slip off my numbers, but using MFP now, becuase I like the phone app better. Link to comment
Ataraxia
I think that more than anything else, calorie counting is useful for defusing the psych warfare. Minds make excuses, but math is math. It's harder to weasel out of a set number of calories than some philosophical declaration. Hostile intent is imminent. You prepare for battle. Link to comment
Gartywood
The math definitely makes it real. Garty, Level 1 Dwarf Ranger STR 2|DEX 1|STA 2|CON 4|WIS 4|CHA 2 Link to comment
Ghost
I guess I'll go check out this MFP and create an account. Link to comment
Leonine
Looks like My Fitness Pal is the weapon of choice! I know a ton of folks who swear by it. I've used My Net Diary for ages, but mostly out of habit; I think you get more choices/nutrition info on MFP. Ghost
The exercise tracking feature doesn't work well for me, but I wasn't planningon using it anyway. Link to comment
ceethegreat
I use LoseIt! and that's cool. I like the bar code scanner on it and it has a lot of restaurants in the database, so it takes work out of looking up nutritional info. I consistently hear great things about MFP, too.
