I'm flying in & out of Madrid July 3-14.I'm spending one night Madrid, 2 nights Pamplona for Bull Run, then hoping to catch some Tour de France for 5 or 6 days then back to Spain. I'd love to hear any tips/suggestions from anyone that's followed the Tour. Oh, I've never been to Europe & Im traveling alone. Thanks!Laree Quote Link to comment
IslandGirl_Becks Posted April 9, 2014 Report Share Posted April 9, 2014 If you're heading to Pamplona, think about checking out one of the other towns in Navarre while you're in the area. Most of them celebrate San Fermin, but the locals tend to avoid Pamplona as it is invaded by tourists. Also, I would suggest swinging up through San Sebastian (Donostia, as the Basques call it), over to Biarritz, and then back over the Pyrennes as you catch the Tour and head back to Madrid. The Basque Country (Euskal Herria, Euskadi) is worth a visit if you're that close anyways!Unless you're renting a car, buses are the main form of transit in the area.
