driscool
OK so..... I did the six week challenge leading up to Christmas, smashed through my 10k pb which was the big goal for that, far exceeding even my A+ mark. But... since then I've been too busy and stressed. I've been doing a course that just eats up time and has constant, anxiety-inducing evaluations and a massive workload. It has made it very hard to stick to a training plan (TIME! TIME! I DON'T HAVE TIME!) and has also made comfort food reaalllly hard to resist. But that's nearly over- the final evaluations are this month. I am also a little bit injured. I'd been running less, and concentrating, buoyed by my 10k success, on getting faster. Then something went in my right calf three weeks ago. A trip to the physio hasn't fixed it, and well, what with everything I've put on a coupple of kilos. Back to 86.5 from under 84. It's fine, I'm not beating myself up over it, shit, I weighed 108kg two years ago. But still. I'm probably moving to Minneapolis this year, so I've had a look and it seems there is an HM on the weekend of Sep 20 that I'd like to sign up for. I want to do a marathon, my first, in Spring 2016. So goals. First I need to give this calf time to heal so I'm going to pick up the bodyweight training again, and combine that with walking until I'm ready to run again. I want to be under 82kg for the September HM, on the way to being around 79-80 for the marathon next year. That means going back to food diarying and photos, and a realisable plan- Sunday night to Saturday morning no carbs, booze or sweets barring exceptional circumstance (Satdurday lunchtime to Sunday lunchtime is for socialising and I'm going to eat what people are eating). The second reason for getting back into the bodyweight training is that Minnesota is COLD in the winter, so I'm thinking I'm probably going to need to join a gym. I'm not a fan of indoor cardio, so I need to get into the weights- which I've never done before, and find the idea of quite intimidating. I reckon if I feel fit and strong and can bang out push-ups with the best of them I'm going to feel more confident going into that. Okay that's my mission statement. May the 4th etc etc. Quote Level 1 Norse-Gael Minotaur driscool of the Valley of the Arroyomalhuele, otherwise Paradise Keep, otherwise the House of the Clan Huracan. me or the future: who blinks first? Igaduma
2.5 kilo isn't that much of an issue (imho), it'll go off again I think it's a good thing you say you'll eat whatever people are eating saturday and sunday. It's hard to keep to a strict diet while socializing and it's incredibly annoying for the people you're socializing with. Good luck! Quote My Profile | I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer. driscool
Thanks! I live with the fear of Putting It All Back On. I mean, statistically most people do. I hope I'm not going to be one of them because I have lost weight gradually over two or three years.I've made small changes like cutting out sugar from my coffee and larger ones like trying to ensure that filling amounts of veg and quality protein make up the bulk of most meals. I never force myself to go hungry and I try to practice mindful eating, which is to say not mindless eating which sometimes feels like my default state. Regular challenges in terms of running are also beneficial, which is why I get the desponds when injured. This kind of mission statementing helps me stay on track.
