5/4/2015 - Re-joining the Ranks - new updates till next challenge!

 

Current PR's: 

Deadlift: 195 lbs (x3)

Back Barbell Squat: 150 lbs 

Bench Press: 75 lbs (x3)

 

My new goals until our next fitness challenge: 

* Up my cardio - shooting for 150 minutes/week (as suggested to prevent cardiovascular disease)

* Go to the gym 5 days a week

 

Lofty Goals: 

* Double my bodyweight in deadlift - end goal of ~260 lbs (long term), reach 200 lb deadlift (short term)

* Bench Press 100 lbs (medium-long goal)

* DO A BLOODY PULL UP - can still do a handful of chin ups, but no pull-ups yet! :|

Day 1: 4/17/2013
 
This is technically my 2nd day of doing the Basic Bodyweight Circuits, but since I started for real today, I'll start now. 
 
Exercises today: 
* 3 sets of Bodyweight Circuit 
* 2 mile run (interspersed with up-hill sprints)

Woot! Today was great :D 

 

* 10 min warm up on stationary bike

* 3 sets of the Beginner Bodyweight Routine

* 10 squats with 30 lbs

* 10 dead-lifts with 30 lbs (first time I've done these...) 

* 10 over-head barbell raise with 30 lbs

 

I also did a bunch of yoga stretches and used those foam column things to open up/stretch my back and butt - sitting at the computer for so long + scoliosis is messing up my back!

April 28th - 2 sets of the body-weight circuit, 10 lat pulldowns at 70 lbs,  and 15 minute cardio workout 


April 30th - 3 sets bodyweight circuit with a 7 minute warmup - we had a mini heat wave and no one has air conditioning where I live (it was pretty miserable!) (edit: I also did a 30 minute run in the morning with my coworker!) 


 


Friday the 2nd I had a minor medical procedure done, so I let myself take those few days off - I hopped back on the bandwagon today but still taking it easy - did a 30 minute cardio workout and 3x10 lat pulldowns at 70 lbs. 


 


This afternoon I'll be back to circuits!

UPDATE: I ended up adding my exercises to the Challenge log so for those from April-May 25th look there! 

 

Will update here again for what we've missed since I ended the challenge...

 

5/26: ~2 mile run, took it easy (cheated on my diet a bit at a BBQ and mexican food)

5/27: Mini yoga routine (~10 min) before bed. 

5/28: 7 min warm-up on spinning bike, 3 sets of the BBWW (substituting bicep curls for lateral rows - 30 lbs on the lunges, 15 on the bicep curls)

Welp... got totally side-tracked while in medical school so I haven't updated much at all... BUT I have been exercising! So there is that. 

 

Since I was last here, I have made some great gains thanks to good people I go to the gym with at school. New PRs!

Week of April 26th-May 3rd: 

 

5/1/15

31 minutes, 9.52 miles (stationary bike)

8 reps x3 barbell squats (up to 115 lbs)

8 reps x3 leg press (up to 135)

Dumbbell rows 24 reps each 30 lbs weight

60 sit ups, 30 leg lifts

 

5/3/15: 

28 min, 9.22 miles (stationary bike)

8 reps bench press (up to 65 lbs)

40 reps bosu-ball squats (15 lb kettlebell)

60 sit ups, 1m:30s plank
