World'sFinest
Just curious what kind of geekery are you into? Movie goer, comic book fan, anime expert, board game connisuer, literary roustabout, D&D hooligan, videogame pro? Personally, I dabble. I try and watch a new movie every week or so, I've read loads of comic books and manga and novels, I played D&D for a bit before my group fell apart, I have too many games on steam, and I've played enough odd boardgames that I even own a few. Raevn
I mainly stick to books and video games... though I've been gaming less and less as time goes on. I've been wanting to try out D&D a time or two to see what all the hoopla is about, but I've never met anyone who plays. Juni0r83
I also dabble: dnd as well as other pencil and paper role playing games, movies, tv shows, console gaming, pc gaming, programming, reading novels, comic books, writing, history, table top war games (specifically warhammer and warhammer 40k), science is a really big one for me as well. There are probably some I've forgotten, but yeah, it's a fairly long list when I sit back and look at it. FalseAesop
I'm a former comic book geek. And I used to play Table Top RPGs.I still occasionally pick up a trade but I don't collect comics anymore... And my old RPG group drifted apart...So now my geekery is limited to sci fi and fantasy media. Novels, TV, movies and such. Also I'm love audio drama which is niche enough to be geeky unto itself. 1 Quote "By trying to please everyone he had pleased no one, and lost his ass in the bargain." - Aesop 2,500 years ago.Level 4 Half Ogre RangerSTR 6|DEX 4|STA 13|CON 11|WIS 5|CHA 8Zombies, Run! Annelise
I'm into anime/manga, books, movies/series (not as much, but I still like them. I love quite a few), videogames (my boyfriend only made it worse, since now I feed his videogaming hobby and he feeds mine xD) and arts and craft (mainly because of my course). I also have interest in the japanese and south korean culture (since now I'm into kpop as well!). I also started learning web design on my own. So yeah, I started quite early with my nerdy side and I'm really proud of it xD Quote My weekly log (measurements and weight) Link to comment

What about yourself?Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI used to play Dark Elves back in 6th and 7th ed days. When 8th came out, I sold my collection because everyone hopped on the 8th edition bandwagon or quit. During that time I got into Hordes/Warmachine, Malifaux, and InfinityI'd have to say Infinity is my favorite game at the moment. I like the idea that it's always your turn, even when it isn't. It's a bit of a learnign curve, but in a good way. The minis are petty cool, even if they are a bit fiddly- it's one line I would love to see go all plastic. I play ALEPH (synthetic humanoids and drones controlled by an AI) and Yu-Jing (future exposition of the Oriental nations). Definitely worthwhile to check out if you have any current or interested players in your area. Quote Link to comment
Juni0r83
The reason I don't play anymore is simply because I became too disconnected from my gaming group (we all grew up and went out and got jobs, how dare we!). But I always preferred necromunda to war hammer 40k, it was such a shame they discontinued that game. But I always preferred necromunda to war hammer 40k, it was such a shame they discontinued that game.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I hear that all the time from long-time GW players: the Specialist Games are the best rules sets they've ever put out. Last time I was at the game shop, they were in week three of a Blood Bowl league, and I don't think that game's been revised for over ten years now. I've also heard people praise Battlefleet Gothic and Epic 40k, although I've never actually seen them play these games. All in all, the last year or two has been open to all sorts of experiments with new gaming systems. I really wanted to try out Dystopian War, it looks like a fun system just from watching a few games. Anima: Tactics and HellDorado had a few small but dedicated cliques of players. Our Infinity regulars started out the same way; it was mostly me and two other guys, then a few people checked us out and got into the game behind us. It's a really good time to be a TTG'er. I'm even considering working on a re-write of a rules system I wrote up three years ago, for a prospective 2015-16 release (gonna let the market un-glut itself as well.) One game I'd love to check out sooner than later is DreadBall... sort of a cross between soccer, hockey, basketball, all set in a nutty futuristic universe. More of a casual game than I'm used to, but they do have some pretty cool stuff going on with that game. Quote Link to comment
lolavictrola
I'm pretty new to embracing my nerdy side. In high school, I actively avoided doing things that in hindsight I probably would have loved (LARP, D&D), because I was a 15 year old girl and those are stupid. It wasn't until college when I logged into SecondLife and stumbled upon a Harry Potter sim (a user-created hogwarts with character sheets etc) that I went, "OH!". I ended up being involved in a revolt that led to the creation of a new game, of which I was a leader. I freaking loved it. I try to avoid online RP now, because I was a classic addict then, but I still love things in that genre. I also love computer games (Bioshock, L4D2, Civ5, and HalfLife2 are my favorites). I read. I'm a grammar geek (semi-colon tattoo!). I guess I'm also a tattoo nerd. I have a degree in music. I'm a scholar nerd. I love TV, with a heartbreaking tendency to fall in love with shows that have low ratings (Community, Mindy Project, Firefly, Arrested Development). ret
In what I would call the classical nerd sense, I enjoy books (including comic books), movies, board games and video games. However, my super power is letting my nerdy passion roll into other hobbies. King among those is shooting (guns and my bow) and driving. Also anything Star Wars. Speaking of Board Games (or card games), has anyone ever played Munchkin? 1 Quote Link to comment

Quickdraw
Arts and Crafts Legos count, right?Books (Reading/Writing) This is more aspirational than current-fact; I think I've finished 4 books in the past year and a half since I cam home from deployment. But ON deployment I was polishing off a book every 3-5 days.Movies/TV My brother and I can routinely converse in nothing but movie/TV quotes. And not just extended-quote sessions, but actually have a meaningful conversation framed through lines from a diverse array of media. Going to the movies is a bit trickier these days with an infant, but she usually behaves herself pretty well.Pen & Paper Games I am a huge devotee of tabletop RPGs. I've moved on from DnD, having become disillusioned with the mechanical systems of 4th Edition. I play Dungeon World and other games Powered By The Apocalpyse nowadays, and they're glorious. I also play an assortment of other story-focused RPGs, but PBTA stuff is king.Video games When I'm able. Haven't really had the time to beat a whole game since getting home from deployment, same as with the books. I miss Skyrim.Tabletop games/Wargames I've played soooo much Catan in my life.
