Back in August last year, I managed a 1RM of 85kg for squats and when I retested in December I was disappointed to only manage 90kg and end up on my arse at 95kg.

I did my first powerlifting competition in February managed 90kg but didn't make depth so my top squat was only 85kg.

All in all quite disappointing.

I started working with a coach just before the competition and today we retested my squats for the first time and not only did I smash my old PR but managed to push past my target of 100kg to do 102.5kg

Now I'm hoping that I can push on and hit a new max in six weeks time at my next competition.

For an extra little bounce in my step, I did five doubles today at my old deadlift PR. New PR next week.

Soon it will be your warm up
