Chesterton
Me and the family just started watching this on hulu and we really enjoy it but there are also a lot of things that cause me to cringe on it lol. I was wondering about everyone's opinion on it? Quote "An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered." - G.K. shaar
I've done Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and it's no joke!! She's a great personal trainer and knows her stuff, that workout really hurts. x_x The Biggest Loser is almost a little too "reality TV" for me though, because there is that level of OMGDrama, but I can see where it would be totally inspiring to people that they CAN lose weight too. blkhole24601
I used to watch TBL for a very superficial reason: I found one of the trainers (Dolvett, I think?) really hot those couple of seasons. And while I did find it to be inspirational at times to keep up with my own workout regime, I knew to take their advice with a grain of salt (ESPECIALLY if it was a product placement advice -- dude, I'm not drinking your crap protein shake). I know that the way the contestants lose weight is not at all healthy (I mean come on, the rate they are expected to lose weight alone is a red flag) and it's all "reality TV" etc, but there was one season where it was all about the contestants backstabbing each other and it felt like I was watching some high school reality show and it was just... too much drama and everything of why I don't watch reality TV, so I stopped watching. Not even Dolvett was enough to keep me in. But I do use Jillian's DVDs from time to time. She's my kind of badass. Gainsdalf the Whey
I watch every season, I love it, and hate that I love it because it's terribly misleading. There's articles all over about Biggest Losers coming clean on the behidn the scenes stuff. The worst one as far as how they put it out there is that the contestants are there for something like 6 months and weight in every 2-3 weeks, not every week. IrishMartian
One of the contestants on the Australian version of the show blew the lid of it a couple of years ago. Said what you saw on the show was heavily edited garbage. The 'scales' they stand on were all props with a weight decided by the producers shown on the screen, and the 'weekly weigh ins' were some times as much as 3 weeks apart so some physical change was apparent as well. Then for the final show where all the eliminated contestants back to show how much weight they've lost since being booted they were all heavily spray tanned, made up and literally wrapped in cling film before show time. He said there were stage hands literally running in circles around them with cling film and masking tape, while they stood holding their breath in their underwear, to get them looking as skinny as possible. 1 Quote Link to comment
