5th in a strong field but lack of motivation on deadlift when I seen my medal prospects slip on squat and bench.

I am generally misbehaving and getting stacked.  Need to get up on my logging and social medias after getting back from the worlds.  I've been hitting some lighter weights at volume and eating a ton.  Going full moon face and not really looking forward to that social media presence while I look like a chubby teenager for a few months.

Some of the stuff I've been sending to sponsors is "That's effing hilarious, but please don't."

I was really hoping to get a bit more grappling on the go once getting back but the BJJ place I'm at, the professor has gone all weird.  We're now all required to wear Gracie Barra gis (which I don't like because they're not hard wearing enough or have unicorns on them) and getting really strict about grading criteria.  I might start just getting up super early and going to the grip house for early AM open mat.  It means I'm not getting in structured technical work but I know they're happy to have me.

A couple of the Judo Scotland (lol EJF what you gonna do about it) have Eddie Bravo purple belts and have asked me to come up to their club as a practice for some of their female judo/ bjj players.  It'll be from a bjj perspective and I'm rocking up in a bjj gi and a white belt.  Any one that recognizes me has been told to keep quiet.  The girls haven't encountered a proper judo ground work specialist other than their coach so might be in for a shock.

On a second positive note, straight foot lock and omo plata are in for this scenario.  But after that it's a wear either your judo or bjj grade.  The purple and blue belts at Gracie Barra love my judo tekkers to bits, and I love what they have to share, but the professor doesn't seem keen on it.

There's also a ton of new female dan grades in judo this year who I tore through on the way to get mine.  Yay, second dan points.

Spent the last two weeks hitting fairly light weights at volume for rebuilding work capacity and dem quads.



The NF virtual meet could have gone better, I went in in the condition I ususally start training for the Scottish Weightlifting champs.  This means untrained and technically sloppy.  A 110kg starting total bodes well for qualification totals this year considering what I get out of a couple of months hard training for this.

 

 

I don't usually hit a 50kg snatch or 60kg jerk first session in.

Next week I start a new program that'll see me through to the GBPF Classic, aiming to boost my own reords and maybe even attempt the deadlift record on the day.  Prepare for an onslaught of posing in the gym mirror selfies as I get swole.

Squat drop sets (3x5 @8RPE): 107.5x5, 102.5x5x2
Heavy Bench (3 @9RPE): 20x5, 40x5, 60x3, 70x3, 75x3, 80x3, 82.5x3 - bit shaky on that last set

Bench drop sets (3x5 @8RPE): 72.5x5x3

Snatch: 15x5, 25x3x2, 35x3x2, 40x3x5 - got some tips for hitting triple extension that make more sense to me than the usual "wait" on the second pull

DB Row: 22.5x10x5

OH Lunge: 15x10x5

 

 

I took longer than usual tonight because I was busy mirin' my gains in the mirror.  I'll make a good 57.

Wednesday:

 

BJJ: Worked on self defence, people are starting to click that my background might be a little varied than I let on.  Lets face it, how many noobs could you tell to do a front kick would you then expect to whip out a text book ap chagi.

I'm not going to admit to this infront of some of the BJJ guys and I get it bad enough for the judo at times.

On a sort of related note, still looking to move gym as I don't like the uniform policy or "no foot sweeps till black belt program"

Judo: We got a visit from the Renicks sisters and I bonded with Kimi over ground work.  It's the first time the coaches have seen either of us be social with a near stranger, both of us being a bit quiet and shy.

Did some convincing tomoe nages (fancy guard pulls) and showing boating with ko uchi gari.

Friday:
 

Some BJJ and quit my gym.  Decided to just go to the Grip House on a pay as you go basis as I don't like the direction Gracie Barra is going, I like a much more laid back environment for BJJ.

Followed by a barbecue and discussions of MMA and American Football (of which I know nothing except 'defensive back, chase the ball') then the offer of doing some s&c work with the guys.

2013 Running Tally: I lost track in July, at 148.925  ((plus 0.5)) but I finished a Very Slow marathon in October. Then I mostly stopped.
2014 Running Tally: 134.1 miles plus 5k (as of 17 September) lost track again, but I know I had at least 147.2 plus 5k for 2014.
2015 Running Tally: 41.2 treadmilled miles & 251.93 real world miles

2016 Running Tally: 0

Egg, cottage cheese and filling of your choice (veg, bacon, chorizo, chicken, anything goes.)

I mix the egg and cottage cheese together first, then pour in.  They do rise a bit in the over so don't fill all the way to the top of the tray.
