Dat deadlift face.

Concentration face.

Time for an instagram dump of what I got up to over Christmas.  I went to Porto for some much needed R&R at GDST gym, ended up finally pulling that 160kg on NYE.

And with this lot for motivation, who couldn't pull a personal best?

Now it's back to sunny Scotland and going on a diet :(

2015 Round Up

 

Lifting at 52kg for IPF internationals

 

I made weight at 52kg on two occasions last year, once for judo and again at the European classic.  Judo was fine as the day before weigh in meant no strength loss, but the European classic was a minor disappointment.  It was a hard cut, I came away with no European squat record and a bronze medal over all.

 

 

A medal (not a participation one) at an IPF international

 

Got Silver, Bronze and Bronze at the European classic and I'm within reach of medals at 57kg at world level.  Not too shabby.

 

 

 

Qualify for British Weightlifting Championships

 

​I never competed in weightlifting last year.  Life got in the way. 

 

 

 

Get at least 30 points towards my judo 2nd Dan 

 

I've ended up bossing it in BJJ and not hitting many judo comps.  But it could be doable this year after ditching equipped lifting.

 

 

2016 Goals
 

  • Get weight stable around 57kg again.
  • Hit a 400kg raw total and 450+ wilks
  • Compete at the northern Portugal bjj open
  • Be able to speak for myself at GDST
  • Like 1

Sorta back.  Dipping in and out due to time.

I'm a very busy mustalid with all my fighting, lifting and international gallivanting.

Also, shoyoroll gis to wear for judo trollage,  shweeeet.

I won't be in Texas.  I've had to take some time out of powerlifting and although I'm doing the GB Classic this year and a couple of Portugal comps.

I may or may not compete on the GBR team again for some of the following reasons:

  • Relocating to warmer climates
  • London/ Birmingham centric teams and favouritism 
  • Having been called fat repeatedly by a national level coach for a year


So the break is kind of understandable.

If relocation goes well I'll be one of the members responsible for negotiating with EPF and Powerlifting Espana to get some sort of re-affiliation with in Portugal.

in a side note, the dearest will be training bjj with me while I'm in the Port as I have a comp when I get back to sunny Escosse.

He's about to find out how not gentle I am when I'm in competition mode.

No, but I have very clearly been left out from national team events and international selection consideration for major events where I would be a solid team choice option who would place first or second.

.....because of a perception thing?  Or because you are stronger at a slightly higher bf%?  No.  You mentioned a different issue earlier and I remember it now.  Best I leave it alone.
