New Recruit reporting for duty!

Heya! I am Liane, and I'm here to kick butt and take names. Or, more accurately, to get fit and lose weight. I'm 23 years old, 190 lbs, and currently working two jobs while living with my fiance. I'm looking to get down to 140 lbs by the end of 2015, and work to keep it off so that I can look good for my wedding in October 2016.

 

Since beginning college almost six years ago, I've been steadily gaining weight--about 10 pounds a year. After reaching 200 pounds, I decided that it was time to finally get rid of all that weight. I joined a gym back in March, and even signed up for personal training sessions. That month was great, I lost 10 pounds...but haven't managed to lose anymore than that since. I didn't go to the gym as much as I did that first month, and I also stopped keeping track of what I was eating.

 

Currently, I face the problem of working from 10-10 on most given days, as well as trying to figure out food while living with someone who's trying to bulk up while I'm trying to slim down. To meet my fitness goals, I'm working at waking up earlier in the morning so that I can get my daily exercise in before I have to go to work. I also notice that I do a lot better when I'm actually being held accountable for my goals, so I'm really excited to take part in the community here, as well as the next 6 week challenge. :D

Welcome! I also suffer the two sided diet dilemma. 

 

I precook most of my meals. Do you both have set calorie counts you're hitting through the week? You could make a cooking party out of a weekend day or day you both have off and have your precooked and his precooked so it's quick throughout the week and something you can do together on the weekend!

If you want to lose weight, food is really the first step to consider. Exercise is good, but diet is the cornerstone of weight management. Good luck with your goals and congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!

 

Thank you! I think the first step that I'm gonna have to take is looking at what mine and my fiance's goals are and use that to figure out how to meet our requirements. Both of us are interested in paleo, so I'm hoping that'll at least get us started on getting on the right path.

Right now, my goal is 1250 calories a day. Our schedules vary a lot, so it's very rare that we both have time off together, but that is a wonderful idea!

Hello!

 

I am also a 'trying to cut' living with a 'trying to bulk' so I feel ya on the struggle! The Assassins' Scullery food chat has some awesome receipes that I've used to split the difference, though some of them aren't 100% Paleo.

 

My husband and I rarely see each other at meal times as well, and we don't want to 'waste' a weekend day cooking, so we've both gotten into the habit of bulk cooking proteins and stuffing them in the freezer in portioned out packs. Maybe that'll help for you too.
