  1. Yay, good run this morning. Now to carry the momentum into eating healthy today.
  2. Yeah, I completely agree. Getting the habits to stick is really the hard part. Especially if it's one I've battled all my life.
  3. Whoa.... The past 10 days have just been a massive struggle on all levels. I stopped working out, I started to slip into bad eating habits, and just couldn't get myself to do anything really. Not sure what caused it, but I think I'm good now. Went for a run this morning, and had a healthy breakfast. Feeling pretty good today.
  4. It's totally okay to just let out the steam built up in you. Much better than letting sit and fester. Super positive that you've been eating well still! Even when stressed, you should try and make sure to eat something good. I know it's hard, which is why when my job decides to push me over the stress cliff, I go outside for a few minutes to have a healthy nibble for a few minutes. I've found it to be so refreshing and helps me to get back to my center.
  5. Sleeeeeeepy....

  6. Second the prepacked snacks! It has saved me so many times at my less than exciting job. For cutting back on the soda, I experimented with various unsweetened teas. After trying a few different ones, I found a fantastically flavored green tea in a local shop here that hits the spot and caffeine boost just right when I'm dragging on at the computer.
  7. I think those are some good goals! Not too easy, and not too difficult. Setting the tempo for the amazingness of the rest of the year for you!
  8. Twice a week with my running has definitely felt really good for me. Far down the road I may increase it to a third day. As for the meals, what I've done is actually set some of my normal/favorite staple meals in myfitnesspal so I only have to log that meal, instead of each individual part. Example, I have 1/2 cup oatmeal made with 1 cup nonsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup blueberries, and 1 scoop protein powder pretty frequently for breakfast, so I have that as a meal I can quickly log. Makes the really slow mornings so much easier!
  9. So far, the pre-programmed meals in myfitnesspal has made the logging aspect of things a bit easier. Yay for easy! Working out this week has been going good so far, and am enjoying the structure I have for now. I think At the end of this month I will assess if I need to change it up drastically, or just a little bit.
  10. From the sound of your post you've achieved a lot. You've come back, which is a major achievement in itself. You've seen and realized that you needed to make some changes to improve your well being, and you've already taken a major step by checking into therapy. Congratulations on Day 4! I've been meditating a lot recently myself, and one thing it helped me to understand about my depressed, negatively self-fulfilling prophecy mind is that I need to look for any and all small achievements I make and build my momentum from them. You're doing better, and can keep it up! We're all here in it with you.
  11. I think it will be a major improvement for me. Diet always has been and most likely always will be the hardest lifestyle improvement for me.
  12. Whoa, don't know what happened to me over the past week, but my mind and body kind of shut down. Anyways, that's not where I'm at now. Got up this morning, did a bodyweight training session from the NF Academy, felt pretty good. Completely forgot to weigh and log my food yet again today. Need to try and address that. Maybe I should program some of my staple meals into myfitnesspal so my logging is easier, especially for the morning meals. In completely unrelated news, I'm trying contacts out! Man, I look funny without my glasses. But I do enjoy getting to wear normal sunglasses! Yay, vanity!
  13. Meditation has been a major boost in my battle with depression as well. Even on days where I don't get to meditate as much as I'd like, it just helps so much. Hopefully while you're in Germany and Switzerland you'll get the chance to as well, though I can understand if its hard, what with the excitement of travel and all!
  14. Thanks!! I used to let the exercise go first in those moments, but I'm getting to a point where it now feels like one of my best outlets. The music blasting, my body moving, my mind able to just focus on what I'm doing. It feels really good now.
  15. Been in a very non-communicative mood over the past few days in all aspects of my life. Not sure why, but it just randomly hit me. My fitness this week has been solid still, thankfully. Diet was a little off, was being lazy about making food when I should have. Going to work a bit harder on that next week.
  16. Yeah, I've learned over the first few months of this year that I can't trust the scale too much. It hasn't really moved at all this year, but I definitely feel stronger and fit better in some of my clothes that were a little tight at the end of 2015.
  17. Thanks for the video! I'll check it out later tonight. Monthly sounds like a good frequency, so as not to go micro-managing crazy.
  18. I love when things are so easy. Thanks for the advice!
  19. I'm planning to take my first set of measurements tomorrow, and had a few quick questions: - Is there a best time of day to take them? ie. when first waking up, at the end of the day? - How frequently? I was thinking once a week at the absolute most - Do you measure while your muscles are in a neutral position, or flexed? Thanks for the knowledge!
  20. Morning run today was okay. First run since the time change, so it was dark. And wet, since it rained all night. I lost my footing on one patch of grass I didn't see, and almost rolled my ankle. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to finally take measurements with a measuring tape. I've never done it, so hopefully seeing specific numbers for my body won't be too shocking. Then I plan to make a spreadsheet to keep track of all my numbers - bodyweight training, running, and measurements.
  21. Workout done for the morning! I remembered that almost 2 years ago I bought membership into the NF academy, so decided to look at that for my bodyweight workouts. I like the slow and steady development of it, and think I will roll with it's Bodyweight Brigade path for a while as I continue to lose weight and improve my overall health. The workout this morning felt really good. My hips have become a little tight, so the squats were not as easy. Need to stretch a little more I suppose.
  22. The meditation has been so helpful in keeping focus and perspective in my current life. From depression, to my work, to me slowly taking online classes, trying to develop the lifestyle of working out and eating for life, and my girlfriend being twice as busy, the meditation is the glue that keeps me together. It helps me remember that I'm not perfect, but I'm pretty awesome, partially because I'm not perfect.
  23. For myself, I know diet plays a big role in how clear my mind is. Over the past few months, as I've incorporated more and more veggies, fruits and lean proteins, the more clear it is. When I slip and eat something I probably shouldn't (curse you chicken tenders and cajun fries) I definitely feel like I'm back in the cloudier mindset until it leaves my system, let alone my body feeling like just doing nothing until it's gone. Maybe try a small adjustment in your diet and see if that helps lift the haze.
  24. Ojara - Yes we can! Just remember to listen to your body, and understand that if you have to adjust your schedule slightly to not destroy yourself, go for it. Geek On Fire - I do plan to keep running for at least 30 minutes twice a week, while I shift my focus a bit more to my bodyweight training on 3 days a week. I think Saturday or Sunday will be a long walk around town, just to get the blood flowing and process the week.
