Artinum
Nerd Fitness is a very positive, affirming place, filled with the struggles and successes of thousands of people as they work on improving themselves and their lives. We're often seeing inspiring success stories and great achievements. This thread is a fun look at the ways getting fit has made our lives a little worse. For instance: since I started running, my calves have developed a lot more definition. I've noticed recently that it's harder to take my jeans off. They used to just slide down my legs - now I have to actually sit down and pull them off, or the legs end up inside out. Damn these fleshed out, sexy legs! This is all your fault! Last Thursday I somehow woke up with perfect second day hair. The temptation to skip working out was huge and yet...I went running and wrecked it. I took a picture first, though, because otherwise it would sound like a "fish that got away" story 5 Quote 2016 goals: Hit goal weight. Dleffe
Biggest problem, pants that fit around my waist simply refuse to fit around my upper legs. Shirts that fit around my chest and shoulders look like a potato sack from the chest down. Also most of my polo shirts are at the limit around my upper arms. Fairly soon I will have to stop wearing boxers as they are getting tighter and tighter around my legs and to loose around the waist. Also I'm having trouble finding a wetsuit that fits, instructor said I'd probably have to get one tailored. Oh and my gf tends to complain I'm getting to wide... although she lost any right to complain after saying Hugh Jackman looked good in the latest X-men movie. So I can just ignore that one I'll add new ones as I notice changes. 2 Quote Link to comment

Cr33g
I think for me, the biggest downfall of health and fitness is time management. I'm at the gym three days a week and each session ranges from an hour to an hour and a half. Three days a week I'll be at judo for both coaching (juniors and kids) and training (in senior class), which takes up about three hours of my time. Last week I also started doing half hour walks as soon as I get up in the morning... which isn't so bad, but the rest of the stuff I do (judo and gym) I do straight after work. On judo nights I won't be home until about 9 PM, on gym nights I'm home at about 6 or 6:30 PM... with the exception of Saturday, judo is on in the morning (which means I can't have too late of a night on Friday). It gets tricky because outside of my full time job I also do freelance work, I try to spend time with my friends and I try to spend time with my family and my girlfriend... so it's a tricky balance. 2 Quote Link to comment
MalleusMaleficarum
Re: slacks and quads, I highly recommend you try pleated front designs. Thank me later. My downside of fitness is that it's really made me despise having to be away from the gym, and that runs counter to some travel and other activities. 1 Quote [ Babby's Ferst Challenge ]Veganism killed my gainzChasing 15 rep 2xBW deadlift Link to comment
SevenofSeven
Shrinking boobies and bigger quads.............does not make it easy, especially when your kids need clothes more than you do, I have dropped from a size 20 jean to 16 and can't afford new ones, this makes them look ridiculous. 1 Quote Wait! Ahyar Dreamspark
Dress Any pants and quads don't mix This. Absolutely this. Also, fixed. Shrinking out of common shop sizes so that you now wear a size only designer stores you can't afford, and teenage stores you're too old for, stock. And this. I remember getting a 200$ pair of pants in the early 2000's, when I weighed 180 lbs or so. They were a bit small for me, but I bought them anyway so I could have more motivation to slim down. I am now just below 140 lbs and, needless to say, those pants no longer fit me. Also, haven't bought new clothes in years because money, and I now only have like 2 pairs of pants that I still like to wear. Also, very few shirts. FML. I have luck at thrift shops sometimes, but it's rather rare. Everything for the lower half tends to be high-waisted, and I can't stand high-waist pants. I don't care if it's back in style. My bottom abs are almost visible and I don't want a stupidly high waistband hiding them! 2 Quote Link to comment

My selection of second hand shops isn't great. I don't even try. Luckily I've reached the point where I'm wearing size large shirts, so I'll be in those a while as my shoulders and and arms aren't getting smaller. Now it's just pants. But I'm cycling by picking up a smaller pair when I need them one at a time. Makes it hurt less. I have a small bag of shorts worth $300 that I can't wear due to being about 4-6 sizes too big. Some are nearly new! I have no issue donating these items, though I suppose I could sell them for money. 1 Quote Pinterest: Alex's Paleo Wins - Recipes on Pinterest Instagram: alexcold23 MFP: dalex916 Link to comment
Silo
I am in the in between sizes and spending too much money on clothes stage too. What I have done is when I buy something new, I wash it and air dry it. Once it starts to get a bit big, I wash it in hot water and run it through the dryer in an attempt to shrink it. Then I move on to the safety pin stage before giving in and buying something new. I tend to have the most problem, fit-wise with dress pants because I have a sizable amount of fat around my midsection but then my butt and legs are smaller/thinner so anything that fits in the waist is really baggy down below. I am sticking with black pants and then brighter tops for now because I feel like it detracts from the strange fit issues. Quote 2016 goals: Hit goal weight. Take up archery, like I dreamed of? I'll need to stop doing lazy shit like sleeping Also yeah, on the boobs. I was a D cup in my teens.
