    • Spoilers for Hill House if you watch it:     I think those get called "Creature Features" named after the tv show of the same name that focus on the singular monster driving the plot. Technically both Jurassic Park (fun for the whole family) and IT (Christ no, not my cup of tea - I think I mostly hate Steven King) both fit in that genre, demonstrating the fuzziness of the sets here. Interestingly we see the vampire/werewolf sub-genres of creature feature growing well outside the bounds of horror to occupy romance and superhero fantasy genres. Cultural evolution is weird for sure.    The chainsaw murder stories are "hillbilly horror", with Deliverance as the Ur example, and Tucker & Dale Vs Evil as the modern horror/comedy subversion. An important post-modern subversion to hillbilly horror that's worth watching is Cabin in the Woods. That one is Joss Whedon, and he's somewhat getting up his own ass in the piece, but arguably he's deconstructing Joseph Cambell's Monomyth shit and he gets points for the attempts (insert acknowledgement that Whedon is terrible to women ,and an ongoing discussion around decentering the producer from collaborative art pieces like a movie).      Sounds like you need to watch "Totally Killer". It plays with those stupid decisions from horror movies in this comedy/thriller that straps a psycho killer onto the chassis of Back to The Future. It's hardly an immortal classic, but Halloween fun and big 80's nostalgia without too much horror intensity. Spoiler-y review here.
    • Thanks for asking!     Gym updates have been supplanted by hurricane nonsense, con crud, and whatever other things have been occupying 100% of my bandwidth. Mostly, this challenge has been a bust. We will try again next time.
    • Is there, like, horse eBay?
    • Liam says you're very welcome and the cover art that you're looking for is Rainbow Rowell's Simon Snow series. Simon Snow, or, what happens after the Harry Potter series ends and the chosen one has trauma, a blank resume, and an foe-yay thing with Draco Malfoy:
    • It does. I used to have one, tea bags sit in the pot just fine. Anything that's "just add hot water". If I still had it, I'd prefer the coffee, personally, but if scary British housekeepers trained up in 1910 make tea, you drink the tea...     (I'm sure she must eventually figure out coffee...)   I think you need a bird teapot.
    • Much time juggling today. New haircut is good so i am happy even though i did have to ask her to take more off (she is still not cutting enough off despite me telling her it grows very fast). Got to both the appointments ontime and even found a book by the author of wicked based on alice in wonderland and a cool witches hat for Halloween.  picked a healthy lunch even though i was craving chips as i had a treat yesterday (yay, willpower).  had to jog slowly to catch the bus, but got back ok and it didnt even rain. Now i am just tired and a little foot sore. But was a good day
    • I sleep best on my side too, and have to be able to roll over. I don't think I would do well with an adjustable base.
    • Thanks, it is so good. Just what i wanted.
    • Whelp, I'm sold! The look, the smirk, the pink floyd shirt! Rojo is done with Rubio's foolishness and Morena loves it.   Thank you Liam! Not books I'm likely to have picked up on my own, which is why recommendations are so good. Ok, if the fan art replaced the cover art on Other Lands, I would probably have picked it up.
