About Sea-to-sky

Character Details

  1. Starting weight- 239.25 26/3 - 240.75 2/4 - 240.25 9/4 - 237 16/4 - 239.25 23/4 - 238 27/4 - 237.75 (-0.25) not much progress despite exercising more this week. Frustrating. Am weighing a tad early admittedly but still, not as much progress as i would like. I am findig myself eating too moo many biscuits and crud at the moment though when i have spare calories left. Bad habit, Trying to eat fruit instead. Not easy, im really craving the sweet stuff right now. Stupid hormones.
  2. Apparently we exported our version of it and then got the American/australian version back again. “Two-penny” or “Tuppence worth” or something similar is the old british version. We use this version in our house, i got it from my grandfather. sorry to hear the leg issues are still plaguing you. Hope they improve for you over the summer.
  3. Today is definitely an inside stuff day. Its grey, cold and raining pretty incessantly out there right now. saved a decent chunk of money this month, very happy about that. Keeping closer tabs on what I'm spending is definitely paying off. Yes, i know, obvious. But my life has been so chaotic for so long it just wasn't something i thought to do before. All progress though, so endeavouring not to beat myself up about past mistakes and celebrate current wins instead (need to train my brain to think back less and not fixate on long past errors. Not helpful). so in that theme, i decided to reward myself with a few new books i really wanted. so right now am reading one upon a cave man by cassadra gannon, which is silly and fun and just everything i need in a book right now. finished finished the second sophie jordan book. Definitely needed trigger warnings in it. Final 1/4 put me off it slightly, as i was enjoying the plot up til that point. There are interesting story elements but it just didn't follow through with the strong characters seen in book one. walk was good yesterday, but i didn't get as far as id have liked. Chucking stuff into the box of things to go out continues. Want to have a concerted whack at my art supplies cupboard next. Ive done it before recently-ish but want to actually go through everything and see what i actually want to keep, instead of hoarding it “because it might be useful at some point” (I'm fighting genetics + upbringing on this one so its always an uphill struggle). essentially i want to get back into art in a more serious way and a surprising quantity of my art supplies are at least 20+ years old at this point. So i figure i either need to check if they have gone off or if i even want to get serious about working out how to properly use them (I'm looking at you water colours). Edit: art cupboard much messier than i expected. As usual stuff has been kind of shoved in there due to lack of alternative homes for it. Did one shelf of books and added a good handful to the out pile, so thats progress. More progress tomorrow hopefully.
  4. ive definitely had days ive craved sugar, but they've got further apart as ive gone along (i should warn you, ive been at this since jan so it might take a while). I give myself one treat a week (As part of my the wider life/diet reset things im doing) and this can be cake etc. ive found though, the days i screw over my cals, its often becuase i ate something sugary ..and then had something else sweet and something else. (Mince pies where the culprit trigger yesterday. Someone left some out to thaw. …Im sure you can see where this is going) Things ive found help -fruit (nice fruit, stuff you love and ideally will choose over other snacks, pineapple, grapes, blueberries have all been good for me. Keep some in the fridge at eye heigh. If you have to make yourself a post it note do so) -energy balls (This recepie was awesome. Highly recommend) -Upping my protein intake (as this reduced my temptation to snack) -the mini amaretti biscuits. Becuase i can just have a couple of these and i get something sweet, but i never seem to then inhale a load of other sugar after them.) -very oat based cookies. Small ones (if you think your can resit inhaling them, These are very nice and not too big) -dried fruit can be good, but you need to be careful not to eat lots in one go (way too easy to eat an entire bunch worth of grapes when they’re raisins) -if you can get family members on board with the “dont leave sweet stuff laying around” plan, also a good call. Much harder to resist the stuff if its sitting on the counter. ok, hope some of that helps. if its any consolation at least 3 of us on here are doing the less sugar thing this year. @Everstorm has been tracking hers in her challenge.
  5. Maybe try starting smaller. I am basically trying to reduce sweet stuff in my diet, like sweet cereals, jam, cake, sweets, chocolate, sugared yogurts. That kind of thing. having a savory breakfast has really helped. Like scrambled eggs, omelette or fruit and greek yogurt. i havent cut out sugar completely, ive just picked fewer sweet snacks, try to be aware of what I'm choosing when out. Trying to pick fruit, nuts or a healthy snack instead of sugar. . do i manage to stick to it every week 😆 nope. Have i found i want to eat less sugar now. 100%. (Which is a big thing for me. Very sweet tooth) If you don't have the mental space to count cals, cutting down on sugar and highly processed foods is a good option. Basically what my brother is doing at the moment (and it is working for him).
  6. Good suggestion. I will google. Always looking for new things. Tell me about it. I have yet to get all the way through any beginners yoga vid, regardless of length. 15mins is max for me, the instant they start doing downward dog it kills me. There are probubly other options too. I have seen chair tai chi, but sadly i have found sourcing normal thai chi vids is a complete pain let alone specialist ones. The free version of lose it was good. I found it Nice and low fuss. Worked a thousand times better than my fitbit app.
  7. Had the same issue. Had kind of burn myself out on it years ago and my brain refused to go back there ditto with the job situation. Hope it makes your routine more set and helps you. Agreed. new puppy is alot of energy. It is so cute though. chair exercises sound like a good things to try. I think you can do yoga or Pilates or something similar in a chair too. the daily dare is great, but 2/3 of the posted excercises are a non starter for me at the moment. i have enough trouble doing the vanilla flavour of situps at the moment without adding extra arm stuff in 😆
  8. had a quiet ish day. Went out with my brother, tried jack fruit for the first time (which tasted a bit like mushroom to me, but it wasnt too bad). Did some bujo, but mostly chilled. Going for a short walk in a minute if it stops spitting. made a second pan of tomato mix (didnt burn this one thankfully) which means i can do falafels in pitta with all the sides (there is a jar of pickled chillies on the shelf i keep looking at longingly). really like how this weekly turned out. Scruffy paper borders turned out nicely. ooh, sun is out. Best be off before it clouds over again
  9. I found using an app really helped me. Takes much of the legwork out of the calore counting. Im using lose it right now and its working really well for me as an app. Usually i burn out on calorie counting really quickly, but its made a big difference in lowering the usual monotony level. Might be worth a go. Reducing how much sugar i was eating is really helping too. sicking with stuff is hard when you feel tired. 100% been there. I like the monthly reset ethos thing on here though. It helps when you have a bad month and need another whack at something, no pressure, no feeling bad. I started out trying to do one full work out a week and failed pretty fast (CFS is a bitch) so im having a go with doing small isolated sets, like in the daily challenge thread (only easier ones, becuase some of the ones they post look so intimidating. I am not made for butterfly sit ups 😆). So one day i will do just 20 jug rows (or whatever my body decides is the cut of point) and that will be it for the day. Maybe something like that would work well for you too?
  10. As we are trying to post fails. I just cremated a pan of tomatos and peppers in the Rayburn so badly i think i may have written off the pan. Moral of story, set a timer.
  11. @Snarkyfishguts hope you have a fab downtime and chill over summer. Wishing you much art, awesomeness and happy days wandering the wilderness with a packed lunch
  12. She is one of my favourite artists. Wish i could speak gaelic because some of the songs are just so beautiful. Maybe i will get round to it one day. 😆your welcome? Ok, this is now head cannon. Too good. also, yes, it is always Florence o’clock for me too. (For the record, i almost posted a hozier song too) Ah, yes. I have seen this. It is very true though. Some days the only person you can save is yourself. And thats ok.
  13. Going slow again today as still pretty tired despite getting a better bedtime tonight. doing a but of cooking today. Out of oat cookies and only have a few energy balls left (which is good as the cherry/chocolate ones where not my faves). trying a new recepie. Apple crumble energy balls. tastes amazing but it is such a sticky mix (wondering if i didnt put enough almond butter in them🤔 slightly got lost whilst counting to four 🤦‍♀️. It is one of those days). But they taste really nice so i will be repeating this one. Skipped the dusting of cinnamon as i don't think they really need it. thinking of making some fun mini cookies. I found a chocolate crinkle cookie recipe that makes very tiny ones so might try that. just about to make some soup. Really want to try this Orzo and chickpea soup recipe i found. its either that or i put a batch of oven cooked tomato, onion and peppers mix in as the freezer is full of falafels at the moment. Might be a nice change. did a bit more to the weekly in my bujo. Very pleased with how its turning out. Looks nice. Will probubly give the calligraphy a bash later.
