Repeating this because there is a rather widely expressed sentiment (including by myself) that in totality the prompts this year are a bit lackluster. Feel free to springboard off in whatever direction calls to you! But for those who like the idea of a prompt but don't care for these ones, I think when I get home tonight I will bust out my set of Rory's Story Cubes and use that to generate some alternative prompts for us.

It was busted pre-hurricane(s) but Helene and now Milton smashed it into irreparable pieces. So, both?     On the plus side, Milton seems to be slightly  less gnarly for my area. I'm feeling for Sarasota, right now, though. They are going to get some ridiculous surge.

Thank you!! The reunion isn't until Saturday but I will be hearing about it. I'm feeling good about my decision today.  My friend who loves parties texted me and said she wasn't going because she felt like it was gonna get ugly. and I told her I felt the same way! I hope I'm wrong, honestly. But I also remember our 20th reunion and it got messy. No. It's gonna be messy.       Thank you. ❤️ 

Philosophy with James went very well. We are not meeting next week, since he has a million things and I have a neuro-audiologist appointment on Monday that I susupect will wipe me out (see what I did there?). We set the readings for our next meeting and talked about some Qualifying Exam housekeeping sorts of things. I wrote to my committee chair and asked for a touchbase meeting on these same housekeeping things.   Work is work, and it's a circus. It all feels very precarious. During lunctime, I got a listserv announcement about a digital librarian position for next summer, so I sent my reseume in. Who knows what will come of it, but an internship is a requirement, and I am limited to remote work, and digital librarianship is right up my alley, so okay, Universe.   Given that we aren't meeting next week, I'm sort of tempted to delay the upcoming readings for a bit and give myself some space-and-grace to simply be still this evening.  I have some episode or other to catch up on I'm sure, but if anything I thik i'll probably poke around for a new personal-reading book and call it an early night.

Glad you can fix it and that it will get tended to before winter-proper.  So, let's just say an out-of-state, absent-minded and absent philosopher wanted to buy a patch of rocky land nearby for the sole purpose of owning it and having a small cabin-in-the-woods thing. Have you walked this particular piece of land? Is it something that you think is worth buying?  I of course would not be moving from Virginia, so the next question is: how far away is the closest Amtrak station and is there Uber?

Do you know who woke up this morning with a hangover, regretting the decisions from last night that they remember, and dreading making amends this morning? IDK but not you. 🏆
