Mud Runs and Building Guns

Wednesday 21st October

 

Lifting day, session felt good. Haven't deadlifted in a while due to back problems so it was nice to start doing that again. Always makes me feel like a badass.

 

Workout log:

Negative chin ups

1x25 seconds

2x20 seconds

 

Bulgarian Split Squat

3x6 reps each leg @ 16kg

 

Deadlift

3x5 reps @ 56kg

 

I've been doing a lot of pull up drills (hollow hangs, negatives, assisted chin ups) as I'm still trying to get to multiple chin ups. Yesterday I managed 3 negative chin ups for 20-25 seconds each. According to the plan I'm following, I now need to add weight to my negatives which is going to be.....interesting! I'll be making pull up drills a bit part of my next challenge.

 

I named this battle log "Mud Runs & Building Guns" but I don't have any mud runs for a while so I guess I should focus on the "building guns" part for now. I've taken progress pictures of myself before but never had the stones to post them.

 

Well, here goes nothing. Current gun situation:

Not had much to report over the last few days, hence the lack of posting.

 

Friday 23rd Oct

Worked from home as had my brothers engagement party in the evening. Managed to squeeze a quick workout in during lunchtime.

Barbell Squat

I've been stuck on 26kg overhead press for ages. it's starting to piss me off now! 

 

Anyway, had a fantastic time at my brothers engagement party. Spent all night dancing, laughing and drinking with family and friends. Needless to say, I didn't get up for parkrun on Saturday morning! Mixing wine with cocktails is never a good idea! In my tipsy state, I seem to have agreed to do Birmingham half marathon next year. Not that I regret it, yet.

 

Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th Oct

Had a nice post party lunch at a local pub with The Hubs on Sunday and spent the rest of the weekend doing chores and relaxing. Should really have gone for a run yesterday but didn't have the energy. 

 

Have my 5 mile ghost race this Friday! Looking forward to that!

That's exciting that you committed to a half marathon next year.  I can't remember, you've done a half before right? Or no?

 

Yes, I did exactly the same one I've agreed to do next year! It's a really great race, except for the final 2 miles that have you running up a ridiculously steep hill. Got nearly a year to train for it so no excuses!

Monday 26th Oct

5k run: 6:22/km pace

 

Tuesday 27th Oct

 

1 chin up (with crappy form)

had weird cramp in my arm half way through the 4th set which screwed up that set and the next one.
