  1. I wear gloves because I've had surgery on my right hand (flexor tendinitis) and occasionally need the wrist support and the thickness as sometimes my fingers cramp. It also helps if I've been having issues with dermatitis (as in my hands will crack and bleed). I say this: if you feel better wearing them, wear them. If you find you don't need them, don't. I use them when I feel like I need to, but I also do hand strengthening exercises as well as my physical therapy stretches.

  3. Upped my game today! Feeling stronger!

  4. So today my friend (who is also a trainer) checked my form on my deadlifts and pointed out I was doing straight leg deadlifts. He checked my squat form and said that 40 was too light, and he put me to 95 lbs. So now I'm squatting 95 lbs, straight leg deadlifting 95, and now that I can do a proper deadlift, I should be doing 140 lbs next week. I can also bench 75 now! Oh my. What have I gotten myself into?! (Just kidding, I love it!) And thank you all for the kind words! I also just got HIRED! I may be busier, but the gym is still my second home.
  5. My trainer friend had me lower some of my weights, change my stances, and do them slowly. It was quite a different feeling, and with body weight exercises, they're things I can do at home.
  6. I don't lunge at all since it makes one of my knees twitchy and my hips unhappy. Step ups, fire hydrants, squats, and deadlifts are my friends!
  7. Working out the day after recovering from a cold might not have been wise...

  8. Thanks guys! I hit another milestone today! When I started, I was at 44.2% bodyfat (October 1st). As of today, I'm at 38.8%. =)
  9. I just get a few questions/comments I loathe: Q. When are you giving us grandchildren? A. I'm not giving you squat. If I have them, I have them because I want them, not for you or anyone else. Q. Don't lose more weight than me! A. I don't care about weight. I will lose as much size as my body wants to lose at the rate it wants to. Q. Aren't squats with weights bad for your knees? A. Why aren't you asking your boyfriend this when he's squatting with 100 lbs on his back? Q. You don't want your muscles to be big and gross, do you? A. I want my muscles to be like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2. I want to look strong, feel strong, lift strong, and BE strong. The end. =)

  12. So yeah, this is an older topic, but I'm giving it a bump because I want to meet some of you! How many Sacramento geeks want to meet up? Doesn't have to be working out on the first "date", but it'd just be cool to meet everyone and see what all events we're looking into. I know I want to try next year's Mud Run.
  13. Hopeless academic? I feel you on that one. I'm rather purposefully going slowly on my degree because I enjoy school so much. Congrats on your finals!!
